25 Unicorn Street- Monday afternoon

Kitty had to make a three-tier cake for class, and today while Lexi was at school was the best time to do it. By the looks of all the ingredients she had laid out, she might be taking this a little too seriously, but also she didn't care.

Midway through pouring the batter in the second of the three pans, something occurred to her, and she called, "Clint, do we have sprinkles?"

25 Unicorn Street- Sunday evening

There had been some new people the last couple weeks, a couple loops to be thrown for, and naturally Kitty figured that one thing to do about it was to invite the grumpy alternate universe version of her mentor/big brother type figure to dinner to meet her family.

When you came from the world she did and had spent this much time in Fandom, this was completely reasonable and not uncomfortable at all. Sorry, Logan.

The place was ready, the pizza was ordered, and now Kitty was waiting to see if he'd actually show up.

25 Unicorn Street- Thursday evening

Once upon a time Kitty threw parties pretty regularly and now it meant making sure the kid had a sleepover that night which had more to do with being able to clean than just having her sleeping upstairs, hoping the dogs behaved, and worrying about how much there was going to be to clean up tonight/tomorrow. Adulthood!

Adulthood also meant she was totally fine with people just coming to hang out. It felt like she didn't know a ton of people on the island these days, and there were newbies now, so people could just get together over plenty of pizza and drinks and not worrying about centering things on a game or anything this time.

Funny thing about Irony...

[Open for anyone, you can handwave an invite or see a flyer or whatever gets you here. If you want the Final Destination I Never party, this is the spot!]

25 Unicorn Street- Friday morning except not

As mornings went, this one was pretty typical for the Barton household. There was coffee on while Kitty made breakfast that wasn't just sugar cereal, the dogs had been walked and the marshmallow snow had been cleaned off their feet, and Lexi was on the floor scribbling on some paper.

She did keep asking about the zoo, though. Because she was very new to this whole "concept of time" thing but she knew she'd been asking about it for a while now.

25 Unicorn Street- Wednesday morning

Kitty, who smelled freshly of Love's Baby Soft perfume, had found a spot on the sofa to put together some pamphlets that she'd be able to use to try and spread the holy word of Jeff, the God of Biscuits.

It was best not to ask where she got the cream pie sitting on the coffee table that she was more than ready to throw at someone, though she'd- thank god- refrained from throwing it at Lexi, who'd made her way upstairs to tell Clint that "Mommy's sick." Maybe it was the fact that Kitty had dispensed perfectly edible Pez from her own mouth that had freaked her out?

25 Unicorn Street- Saturday after stuff

Honestly there was probably no one more relieved to have this over than Lexi, who Kitty had been vague around but also she'd had no choice but to bring her around because this has not been an optimal time to find a babysitter in Fandom.

Which meant that Lexi was insisting on camping out outside the bathroom while Clint showered, with Kitty sitting next to her in the hall to say things like, "Honey, you don't need to knock to check on him, he's there."

25 Unicorn Street- late Thursday night

Last week had been great, if... different with a two-year-old running around.

Okay, difficult. It has been really difficult and there was a reason Clint had had to get a babysitter to visit Kitty at work that time.

But the good news was that week was over, and things were much easier now, which was why Kitty carefully listened at the door to Lexi's bedroom to make sure she was asleep (she did not dare open the door) before coming back to the master bedroom and closing the door. "Okay, she's out."

25 Unicorn Street- Friday morning

The bad news was, Lexi had been dragging the inflatable reindeer she'd been gifted around like it was her new best friend.

The good news was, there was a rule that Mr. Rudy had to sleep downstairs.

And that was a very good thing, because when the dogs started barking like crazy and Kitty went downstairs to check what had happened, she did not expect to find a murderous reindeer down there.

"Uh, Clint?" she called.

25 Unicorn Street- Saturday morning

Kitty had known she'd be in for it this morning when she said she and Clint deserved a night to not be adults. She'd known.

And then this morning, at 6 am, mere hours after she got to sleep, Lexi decided she was up for the day, because two-year-olds were monsters. Kitty had then had to convince her that no, this was not time to play, no we're not going to chase the dogs right now, please sit down on the couch and just watch cartoons.

This had also backfired, because god kids' cartoons were annoying and loud.

25 Unicorn Street- Thursday morning

Kitty was no stranger to waking up suddenly because something was wrong. She'd been in the X-Men a whole year, that sort of thing happened all the time.

She was a total stranger to a two-year-old climbing out of her crib to come into her room and pull the covers off in the effort of trying to climb onto the bed.

So very cold now, Kitty sat up and looked at Lexi, who was now trying to pull the covers off on purpose, and said, "You need boundaries."

25 Unicorn Street- Sunday evening

Don't mind Kitty if she was following Lexi around all day, to the point where the little girl was starting to yell things like, "You go over there!"

"Well, excuse me, you were a lost sheep 24 hours ago," Kitty explained to her.

Lexi didn't care, and pointed to the sofa.

OOC: this availability post sucks

If you haven't seen on social media, my dad died this morning. Nick and I were already headed down tonight to see him anyway, it's just that the trip has changed by a lot, and gone from "we'll work from the hotel because visiting hours aren't till 3 anyway" to "let's clean out a condo in its entirety to hopefully drive back up if we need to???"

I'm not taking a break or anything, and in fact I'm probably going to be trying to throw characters at stuff like normal as much as my brain allows for something normal to do and/or might beg for fluff, but if I TD or end up on SP for way longer than usual, that's why. And I might not be around at all this weekend if I have to drive 17 hours back from Florida. Who knows!

Anyway, bleh.

Office hours- Saturday

Kitty didn't actually expect a lot of visitors, though she'd dusted tidied up her office in case anyone did show up. And it might look like she was working at her laptop, maybe on like, lesson plans or something.

In actuality she was trying to figure out if she could have alcohol emergency-delivered to the bar if she needed it tonight, because this was the worst weekend for this to happen.

25 Unicorn Street- early Thursday morning

Kitty hadn't thought much of the nightmares last night. It was weird for some of the stuff to come up after all this time, but she hadn't been that worried about it. Then came tonight (...this morning?), where she'd dreamt of being thirteen and on a table, having her memories removed and replaced with false ones, like everything about her was removed to turn her into a killing machine.

It was invasive, and terrible, and when she woke up she was left with the thought of just how hard it had been to come back from that, how much Logan had had to push her to make her own choices and work past the brainwashing when all she'd wanted to do was run. It wasn't even like she hadn't had to deal with Ogun twice since then, and the randomness and detail of this now actually made her mad.

She sat up in bed, rubbing her face, and apparently she was awake now.

Outside 25 Unicorn Street- Thursday morning

Today was gross. It was so gross. And since the power was out, Kitty figured it was a matter of time before she suggested finding a hotel on the mainland, given the kid and the dogs. Sure, it'd look weird fleeing the island in swimsuits, but... There was no end to that. It'd just be weird.

For now, though, she had pulled a kiddie pool out in front of the house and filled it up to let Lexi play for a while. She'd been slathered in sunscreen and had adorable little kiddie sunglasses, and mostly she kept climbing out of the pool to walk around and say "Look!" while showing Kitty random objects she found on the ground.

"The point of this is for you to be in the pool," Kitty told her.

Lexi handed her a leaf.

ooc: cards against humanity!

Look, most of not all of our brains are melted, and it's hard to get into stuff, so thanks to Fry let's have a game night! And Cards Against Humanity is kinda perfect for nonsense fun. You don't have to do anything! A spreadsheet of cards will be provided.

Signups are up just so I have an idea of how to split up the cards. If you decide you want to play on Thursday, you'll just drop a comment here and I'll give you a set. Easy peasy.

WE DESERVE THIS.

That one house in South Carolina- Sunday

If last year's sex pollen had been tricky with a teething baby, it was more complicated with a toddler who could get around by herself. So now that Three Minute Dates was done and she had plans for class that would not require her to be in class, she and Clint decided they could spare a couple days for a breather.

Which still meant tiring Lexi out on the beach (which involved a lot of "no, honey, sand isn't food," and "see, now you're crying because you ate sand") before putting her down for a nap, and Kitty finally came back to the living room and got right on the couch and said, "She's our. For real."

Around town- Thursday morning

'Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the town, Kitty was going around and hanging up posters advertising the New Year's Eve party at Caritas. If it was her night behind the bar anyway, might as well, right?

And once she was done with this she'd have to go burn the original posters Tino had done up, because no one needed the image of him dressed up like the New Year's baby in their heads.

[My plans flaked out so RP party it is! Will go up on Monday night for SP, and open if you want to catch Kitty around town!]

25 Unicorn Street- Wednesday evening

Kitty got back late last night, which meant today she had been running around trying to get everything done for the party she had totally emailed everyone about earlier this week.

So now the house was decorated for a one-year-old's birthday party, which... wasn't super decorated because Lexi was one and didn't care. There was food and drink and party hats the guests were encouraged to wear because they made the birthday girl laugh (the dogs were totally wearing them), and Lexi had her own little princess chair that she kept crawling or toddling out of. At least the kid was having fun.

Come one, come all, enjoy a baby's birthday party!

Office hours- Saturday afternoon

The good news was, Kitty had a small class, which meant she probably could get away with only being here a couple hours in case anyone wanted to talk to her, and if no one did then she could get some work done. It also meant that for the moment, Clint and Barney would be left with Lexi, and she wanted to get back there.

Not that she thought they couldn't handle it or anything. She just wanted to see what it was like.
