Allie had been wandering the streets of Fandom, using her vampire hearing to listen in on the voices of the island, hoping to find one that was familiar. Kitty's voice was easily recognizable, the other, not so much.

Hoping she'd be welcomed after disappearing like she had, Allie knocked on the door.

"See, you get what you wanted," Kitty told Lexi, going to open the door, and then stopping short when she did. "Allie?"

Never count out a doppelgänger situation.

"In the flesh," Allie replied with a smile, grateful that Kitty recognized her. For a time she'd been worried she'd crossed into some alternate Fandom. "Hi, Kitty."

"Oh my god hi!"

Did you still do hugs, Allie? Hopefully you still did hugs because that's what Kitty was going for.

It had been entirely too long since Allie had had a hug, so forgive her if it took her a second to react. But then she was hugging back happily. "I missed you too."

"Are you back?" she asked. "Like, back back? Or is this a visit?"

"I'm not sure," Allie admitted. "It all depends on what happens when I try to go back over the causeway tomorrow."

With one more squeeze and a pat to Kitty's shoulder, she stepped back. "I wouldn't mind sticking around for a while though."

"I like that part," Kitty said, opening the door for her. "Come on in. Hey, Lexi?"

"No!" a little voice yelled back.

"That's not Clint."

Awesome powers of observation there, Allie.

"Nope," Kitty said, and called again, "Lexi!"

"No!" Lexi said, having curled up on the floor with Lucky.

Kitty sighed and turned back to Allie. "Well, that's Lexi. She turned into a sheep last night and today she's asserting her independence."

"I don't even know where to begin with that," Allie admitted, stepping through the door. "I'm going to guess you had a kid? And since she can talk...How long has it been?"

"Yeah, she's ours. She's very close to being two," Kitty said. Which might explain the reliance on ' no.' "How long have you been gone?"

A weird question in other towns.

"That's little." And somewhat terrifying to a vampire with minimal experience with little kids. "It's been almost six years for me. I think I've aged well, don't you"

She looked exactly the same as she did the last time Kitty had seen her. Just a little grubbier because hot showers were few and far between in her world.

"I'm jealous," Kitty grinned, and gestured to the sofa. "Sit. Tell me everything."

Allie slipped her sheathed sword off her back and held it out to Kitty. "Swords and small kids probably don't mix. Is there a safe spot for this first?"

"Yeah," she said, taking the sword. "Give me a second, I'll put it with Clint's stuff."

Since they actually did have weapons around all the time.

"You don't have to watch Lexi for that second, I promise Lucky's got her," she said.

There was probably no safer spot for it. "Good, I'll be the first to admit I have no idea what to do with a little, little kid."

Allie took a seat on the couch and thought for a moment. "If you remember, I was stuck here waiting for Portalocity to open back up to my world once they were sure Sarren's virus was gone," she said once Kitty returned.

"Yeah, I remember that," Kitty said, taking a seat and turning to face her. "I'm guessing it did?"

"They were doing a test. One of the customer service people I'd been calling all that time took pity on me," Allie explained. "But it was a case of go immediately or miss the chance for who knew how much longer." She looked down sadly. "I always regretted not getting a chance to say good-bye."

"Things happen," Kitty said with a little smile. "Sometimes you've just gotta take the chance when it comes."

"Exactly," she nodded. "The timing thing worked in my favor. While I'd been in Fandom for three years waiting to get back, it had only been a week in my world. I caught up with Kanin and Jackal and we went after Sarren."

"I'm hoping for a good end to this," Kitty told her. She was here, so it had to be good, right?

Allie smiled, cold and satisfied. "I took Sarren's head." She only wished she could do it again, just for what he'd done to Zeke and what he'd caused Zeke to do to himself. She pushed the sudden image of Zeke burning in the sunlight down, not wanting it to intrude on what was supposed to be a happy reunion.

"But he'd already spread a more deadly form of his virus to a group of rabids. Kanin sacrificed himself to destroy them."

"Oh no. I'm so sorry," Kitty said, frowning. "Did it at least take care of the rabids?"

"He wanted to do it. It was a way for him to make amends. He's at peace now. That's what matters."

She shook her head, "Unfortunately rabids will be around for a long time. There's too many destroy them all. But now there's a vaccine, it'll prevent new people from being infected and becoming rabid. So that's a start."

"It sounds doable," Kitty said thoughtfully. "Some kind of light at the end of the tunnel."

"I don't know that I'd go that far. The vampire princes are still in charge," Allie said, her distaste evident. "I don't see that changing anytime soon. But the vaccine is a start."

"I'll take it," Kitty said. "Is that why you're back?"

"I was on my way to Old DC to see Azura. She's one of the only Vampire Princes I actually like," she explained. "And just like when I first came to the island, I saw a light in the distance. It's weird though, because I'd been through that same area at least a half dozen time before, but I never saw anything. I guess now was finally the right time."

"Fandom being Fandom. Can't say I'm sorry about it," Kitty smiled.

Because look! She was here! It'd been forever!

Allie grinned. "Same here. I have spent way too much time dealing with the various Princes trying to get the vaccine distributed. It would be nice to spend some time where the worst thing I have to worry about is turning into a bat. Or possibly a sheep."

"Please not a bat for a while. One got caught in my hair last night and it was a whole thing," Kitty told her. "You can stay you."

"I plan on it. The island might have other plans," she teased. "But hopefully it'll hold off for a few weeks and let me get settled. So tell me about you. What have you been doing besides making a tiny human?"

"Raising a tiny human," Kitty said, looking to make sure Lexi was still chilling with the dog. "Teaching. X-Manning, and I was a headmistress there for a while, though that turned into an event and I'm kind of on reserve now. Basically a lot of the same things but different, if that makes sense."

Allie nodded. "You've been busy. How's Clint? An who else is still around?"

"Clint's good. Enjoying Dad life," she said. "As for who's still around, not a lot. Mike just left recently. Eponine's still here but I don't see her much. Eric. Steve and Tony. Jack and Emma came to my baby shower but they don't live on island."

"I'll have to see if I can track her down. And get a new phone so I can give Jack and Kaidan a call," she smiled, pleased at the thought.

"Do you need to get completely set up again here?" Kitty wondered.

"Probably. I didn't take much with me when I left and I can't imagine my stuff is still at my place." Boy was she in for a surprise. "Although my bike is still parked at the causeway. I'm sure it's going to need some work, but at least I have that."

"If no one's moved that, you might want to check at your apartment complex," Kitty said. "Even if they've moved things out, your stuff might be in storage."

Kind of!

"Hopefully. I'd hate to lose all the books I'd collected."

Allie had strange priorities.

Kitty had to grin at that. "I so missed you."

"Same. It's good to be back," she replied.
