The bonus of having friends back home that were dorks who enjoyed spoiling your kid was that sometimes you'd get gifted something that was so great, you took any opportunity to give your baby a bath so you could use it.

Did Kitty sing "Baby Shark" to Lexi while putting her in it? Absolutely.

Was she now carrying her around the house face-down like Superman while singing the Mandibles theme? Also yes. You had to do these things sometimes.

[Look. I didn't celebrate Shark Week online and said I would post this days ago. Had to be done. Can be open!]

At least one kid is an animal which means it's SDCC time! I'm leaving first thing in the morning and am coming back late Sunday, and I'll be pretty much afk.

In the meantime, Sabine is a bird in the care of Kanan and Hera, Kitty's off in New York with the fam, Aeryn has a family thing, and Brooke and Janet are quiet, with modding rights to the bf and roomie, respectively. My alumni might come out if I'm bored in line/an airport/crying on the floor from overstimulation and needing a break. (I'm about 50/50 with the crying thing.)

See some of you there!!!
throughaphase: (phone)
Since the island was mostly a murderous hellscape now and they'd all just sort of accepted that, Kitty wasn't spending a lot of time outdoors. She was trying to keep Lexi entertained indoors, which today involved setting her on the floor on her stomach and trying to encourage her to crawl after the dogs. Which she would, but only when she felt like it. Maybe if Kitty started throwing toys for her?

Sometime in all that encouraging, Logan called.

The fun thing about Kitty's life was that while she was uncomfortably used to losing people who were important to her, sometimes you got news about things like how Kurt was back from the dead.

And when she was off the phone, she started looking at portals to see when the next one was, and then looked at the time. Ugh. This was a bad week for this sort of thing.

[He was dead too long. Open!]

Kitty usually woke up early, and she hadn't thought anything was off until she started to sit up and noticed that the room was different. It took a second to recognize it, and she immediately thought, Oh, this again. It wasn't the first time she and Clint had woken up here, it probably wouldn't be the last.

Around that time she decided that her life was too weird, and that reaction proved it, even if it was probably way too late to do anything about the weirdness now.

What actually got her out of bed, though, was the outraged shriek of, "Are you kidding me?" from the other room.

[For those in the house!]
throughaphase: (what's over here?)
Unlike previous years, Kitty wasn't really expecting anything today. She'd had a year to come to grips with the idea that there wouldn't be any more Lexi visits since they had a Lexi now, and it'd been a while since she or Clint has other kids. So she was treating today like any other day, waking up too early because baby, and she was downstairs with her when the doorbell rang.

...uh oh.

[For two, and all the SP!]
throughaphase: (can i help you?)
For the most part, Kitty loved this week when it rolled around. No matter how frustrating the day could get, she had it easy, because she always had Clint at home.

However, this was the first time they also had a teething baby at home, too.

"Okay," Kitty said as she phased back into the bedroom through the closed door. "She's down now. For real this time."

...She was pretty sure.

[For the guy!]

Clint and Kitty had never really gone all out for this holiday, and it was a little harder with a three-month-old. It was going to be a night in, with Clint whipping up something special while Kitty tried to lean Lexi in so she could see the flowers on the coffee table, which meant she was trying (and failing) to grab them.

"What do you think?" Kitty asked her. "Is Daddy burning down the kitchen?"

[For the boy!]
throughaphase: (doing just fine)
Months ago, Kitty had said she was going to throw a birthday party this year, just to make Rosa go to it. And then Clint and Kitty's birthday week came up and she decided nope. They had a very-nearly-two-month-old, she was tired, she just did NYE, no.

Instead, they were celebrating their birthdays with an actual date night. At a hotel. Where they could sleep the whole night. And get room service. And not have to clean anything. It was gonna be great. Kitty was already in pajamas.

And as she pulled the cover off one of the food trays, she made sure her phone was face up on the bed and in sight so she wouldn't miss any calls about Lexi. "No news is good news, right?"

[For the slightly belated birthday boy.]
throughaphase: (little smile)
It wads Lexi's first Christmas, and these things needed to be celebrated. Of course, Lexi was six weeks old and had no idea what was happening, which made things easier, and dorkier. It meant that they got pictures of her under the tree with presents and all so there was something to send people, and then, since they were up too freaking early with a baby anyway, Clint and Kitty got to open her "presents" on her behalf.

"Look, sweetie, it's diapers!"

Because when your kid was too little to care, it meant you could wrap up stuff you'd needed to get anyway and say you gave them to her. Do what you gotta do.

[For that guy who lives there, and yay SP!]
throughaphase: (computer)
Kitty could tell you how many days old Lexi was (fifteen) but unless she was looking at her phone, she was sort of lost on the day of the week. Or usually what time of day it was, since going to sleep and staying asleep all night was probably not a thing that was happening ever again. She changed what loungewear she was wearing every day? Was that a good marker of time?

And yet she still had stuff to do. Work work in addition to other stuff that had to get done around the house and all the baby stuff. She wasn't back to bartending yet, but she was still doing the paperwork side of business running, and so she had her laptop open while Lexi laid on the couch next to her, though the baby kept taking most of her attention. "I thought you were supposed to be helping me work," Kitty told her. "Pick up the slack, kid."

[Open!]
throughaphase: (lounging)
Once upon a time Kitty had thought she might be back at work already. After all, it was one night a week, she had Tino as backup, she'd figured out ways to be off her feet... and in reality, lol no.

So instead, she was sleeping in spurts at weird times and was basically just changing into different lounge clothes each day. Currently Lexi was sleeping on her while she watched a full season of some random Netflix baking show, because that's somehow what ended up on the TV.

This was kind of great, though it might be the sleep deprivation setting in.

[Open!]

Late Tuesday night, a text went out. Hopefully people were awake, or had their phone on silent. In that text was a picture of a smush-faced baby girl wrapped in a pink blanket, along with Meet perfect little Alexandra Marie.

At this point, Kitty was exhausted, and totally unaware that she was going to get woken up seventeen times during the night by nurses, but at the same time... lookit. She was holding an adorable brand new sleeping toy here.

"Seems weird that they're just going to let us walk out with her," she said. "It's insane that they're going to let us do that, right?"

[For the babydaddy, but open for replies! If you think you got it, you did.]
throughaphase: (so much eyerolling)
Kitty was still at work, still god damn pregnant, and really tired of it. And there was for some reason a cow in the bar, and it kept walking through everything (literally through) and chirping, and Tino wasn't any help because he kept running into the wall for no reason.

Anyway, she was here, annoyed and overheating, refusing to turn on the TV tonight for her own sanity, and if you caught her in a quiet moment, you might hear her looking down and threateningly murmuring, "Get out."

[Open, no OCD!]
throughaphase: (outside)
So hey, there was not a lot of time left, and then who knew when they'd be able to get away again. So Clint and Kitty had decided since everyone was on break anyway, this was the time to go on a relaxing trip. Not too far away. Where they didn't really need to do anything.

They had a balcony with a great view, so Kitty was taking advantage of it by sitting out for a while with her feet up, and she maybe had snuck a cup of coffee with her. Shut up, it was vacation.

[For the boy!]
throughaphase: (moping)
Kitty was pretty obviously not running around in spandex and fighting bad guys for part of her week these days, but she had plenty of people who kept her at least vaguely in the know about what was going on there. And yet no one had told her anything in the entire time that Peter had apparently turned himself in and gone on trial for a mission gone wrong. No one had wanted to stress out over it, and she got that, but it meant that there was a lot for her to unpack after she'd gotten the call from Logan last night.

She hadn't said anything last night, since the last time she'd seen Peter there had been a Phoenix Force-induced attempted murder of her husband and things were Complicated, and she wanted to think things through first. She hadn't slept much, either, which wasn't unusual now, but she'd finally given up and gone downstairs early to get out her laptop and try to research what had happened.

Some people dealt with things in healthy ways, some people obsessed over figuring them out.

[For the boy! Don't ask me about the current state of canon!]
throughaphase: (sleep)
Kitty had been exhausted through work last night, then came home and went right to bed, and she really had no intention of doing anything this morning except sleeping. And when she found herself starting to wake up far earlier than she actually wanted to, she snuggled closer to Clint and stubbornly draped an arm around him like that was going to make the waking up stop.

Was that going to work? No, probably not.

[For the guy. La la la.]
throughaphase: (lip bite)
For days Kitty had driven herself crazy waiting for a phone call from her doctor back home, waiting on genetic testing results that would tell them whether or not they were getting the kid they expected. It didn't matter if they were closed, she still half expected it. She'd even maybe hacked into their system to see if her results were in there somewhere, because she had some little boundary issues there.

She was trying to be a little less psycho about it, though, and today called a minute after they opened, because she didn't want to seem too pushy. Of course they didn't pick up right away, so she had to call back five minutes later, and that time at least someone picked up.

[For the guy!]
throughaphase: (moping)
Today was one of the days Kitty kind of felt terrible, and whileshed originally planned to do things today, they quickly morphed into laying in bed and cuddling with dogs while watching Netflix on her tablet/getting up to be sick. And eventually she made a call.

And returned a weird call. Ugh, today.

[can be open with SP!]
throughaphase: (hey what's up)
On one hand, this week was a little off when Kitty felt gross a lot of the time. On the other hand, the next time this happened things would be very different, do she was taking as much advantage of it as possible.

And because she was up early, she went downstairs to make coffee- that she couldn’t drink, which is how you know she loves you, Clint- and was debating actually making breakfast while she waited for it to finish so she could bring it upstairs. Realistically she knew that wasn’t happening, but still, she was debating it.

[For that guy!]
throughaphase: (to the side)
Today was just going to be a nervewracking day and Kitty was committing to that. It was the first time ever she’d been wishing for Clint to just leave the house already, and once he was gone she immediately went upstairs and closed herself off in the bathroom.

Then there was time spent sitting on the counter with the timer going on her phone so she knew when there wasn’t a point in watching anymore, fidgeting like crazy as she waited to see if anything was going to happen.

For about a minute. And then she was left with, “Huh.”

[NFB and for that guy!]
throughaphase: (sitting)
Valentine’s Day was one of Kitty’s favorite holidays, and she’d say it was a good reminder to stop and really appreciate how lucky she was. In reality she thought that pretty much all the time anyway. Awww. It didn’t even matter that half the time it just meant saying in.

That’s what tonight was. There were new flowers in the house, there was pizza delivery, and there were two dogs who were just waiting for said pizza. “Okay,” Kitty said as she set the box on the coffee table and sat on the couch, “I know I just had a whole conversation about how heart-shaped things taste better, but a heart-shaped pizza also means less pizza.”

[For that guy that married her!]
throughaphase: (bar)
Everything was chaos at the moment, but it was also birthday week, and these things had to be celebrated. Also, it was an excuse to dress up cute and get the hell away from a building full of teenagers for a little while.

“You know what’s nice?” Kitty said as the waiter left after taking their orders. “Feeling sane.”

[For the partner in birthdays!]
throughaphase: (all the frustrations!)
Everyone out here was fighting, which wasn’t actually that surprising or uncommon when it came to the X-Men, and Kitty was determined to stay out of it. It felt like she was the only one, though. Rachel and Bobby had both gone off to fight opposite Logan, leaving the school understaffed, and Kitty knew she wasn’t making it to her Fandom jobs today because someone had to figure this mess out.

And then today a few Avengers had shown up to stand guard and watch, and there’d been a fight, and people got hurt. They’d figured out pretty quickly after that that coming to the school was a mistake because it was a school, with kids, and left.

Once again, Kitty got things cleaned up, and then went off to the headmaster’s office to angrily pace until she felt less pissed off. It was entirely possible her legs would give out first.

[For the guy with her!]
