The Jean Grey School- Tuesday

Everyone out here was fighting, which wasn’t actually that surprising or uncommon when it came to the X-Men, and Kitty was determined to stay out of it. It felt like she was the only one, though. Rachel and Bobby had both gone off to fight opposite Logan, leaving the school understaffed, and Kitty knew she wasn’t making it to her Fandom jobs today because someone had to figure this mess out.

And then today a few Avengers had shown up to stand guard and watch, and there’d been a fight, and people got hurt. They’d figured out pretty quickly after that that coming to the school was a mistake because it was a school, with kids, and left.

Once again, Kitty got things cleaned up, and then went off to the headmaster’s office to angrily pace until she felt less pissed off. It was entirely possible her legs would give out first.

Being in Kitty's world was never easy, but it was even less fun this time around with Avengers complicating things and people Clint had fought beside in the past making terrible decisions.

He let Kitty go off and stew on her own for a bit, because hovering wouldn't help anyone. After a little while though, Clint went to the office and stood in the doorway, watching her pace. "Is that helping?" he asked.

"No, but I don't want any of the kids catching me hitting anything yet," Kitty paced. "Everyone's stupid, Clint."

The Marvel universe, summed up.

"I'm sorry," Clint said, going over to try to pull her into a hug. "Everyone's even more stupid than usual, and I'm sorry. I know the answer is probably 'no' but is there anything I can do to help?"

"More of this," Kitty said, hugging him back. She kind of needed that. "And give me more hours in the day so I can cover Rogue's stuff too now."

Clint hugged Kitty tightly and sighed. "If I could make more hours in the day, I would. It doesn't have to fall on you to cover her, you know. Not everything has to fall on you."

"Who else is going to do it? There are kids here who need something to be stable while everyone's running around trying to kill each other," she told him.

[so_hawkward]

"I can help. There have to be others who can help. You're amazing and awesome but you don't have to be the only adult here," Clint said, giving her another hug. "I'm not going to watch you burn yourself out."

[throughaphase]

“I love you in ridiculous ways,” she told him, smiling a little. “Maybe everyone will snap out of it and stop this.”

[so_hawkward]

"Maybe everyone will realize they're supposed to be friends and stop this," Clint said. "Maybe everyone will get tired of hurting each other." Clearly, he hadn't had the fun of a Civil War yet.

[throughaphase]

"Maybe. And then I get to slap everyone silly," Kitty said, defeating the point of everyone not hurting each other.

[so_hawkward]

"Gently. With something soft, maybe," Clint said. "Just make sure to get them somewhere they're injured for maximum effect."

Kitty sighed. “I’m sorry to drag you into this. You know, again.”
