That one house in South Carolina- Sunday

If last year's sex pollen had been tricky with a teething baby, it was more complicated with a toddler who could get around by herself. So now that Three Minute Dates was done and she had plans for class that would not require her to be in class, she and Clint decided they could spare a couple days for a breather.

Which still meant tiring Lexi out on the beach (which involved a lot of "no, honey, sand isn't food," and "see, now you're crying because you ate sand") before putting her down for a nap, and Kitty finally came back to the living room and got right on the couch and said, "She's our. For real."

"She's definitely got a lot of me in her, which I think I'm going to be apologizing for for most of her life," Clint said. He sat down on the couch and tried to pull Kitty into his lap. "Is she finally asleep?"

"Yes," she said, letting herself be pulled and snaking her arms around his neck. "I even faked leaving a couple times to make sure she didn't get up as soon as she thought I was gone. Motherhood has turned me into a narc."

Clint laughed and pulled Kitty close, just enjoying the feeling of having his arms around her. "It's turned you into a good mother, that's all. She'll appreciate it... in the very very far future when she has kids of her own."

"That's too far out," Kitty said, scrunching up her nose. "I don't feel like thinking about being old today."

[so_hawkward]

"Oh? What do you want to think about?" Clint asked, like they hadn't spent all week trying not to be outright filthy in front of their child.

"Hmm. Maybe what we can do in an hour before naptime is over?"

An hour might be generous but she was going with it.

"We could always take a nap too. It's good to sleep when your toddler does, right?"

He was terrible, sorry Kitty.

Kitty answered that by swatting at his shoulder.

No. Don't be terrible, Clint.

Clint pretended like that hurt, and wrapped his arms around Kitty more, giving her a kiss. "We should get so many gold stars for making it through the week."

"Maybe next time this happens we can ask my mom or Barney to babysit," she mused, giving him another kiss. "For a week. Off island."

"Oh, I like the sound of that," Clint said. "Leaning towards your mom on that one since, you know, she kept you alive and Barney... well, I guess he did okay with me."

"Barney did great with you. But I think Barney is a little terrified," she said.
