throughaphase | MHA #10- Saturday evening

With the way things had been going for everyone over the last few weeks, Kitty and Allie had decided it might be good to have a small, semi-quiet apartment party with friends where nothing traumatic happened and they could have fun.

Aaand then Kitty got in from California too late yesterday to get much of anything done so a lot of today was spent cleaning, shopping, and finding some game off the Internet, because with the group they'd invited, it might be good to have something to focus on rather than just glaring at people across the room. Which they'd probably do anyway, but at least it wouldn't be their whole night.

By the time people were due to start showing up, everything had been set up, the place looked presentable, and the pizza had gotten here in time for Kitty to box up a couple pieces for Lucky already, because shut up, that's why.

Stiles' dad would have been Very Concerned about his son hanging out with all these adults but Stiles didn't much care. He had hung out with people his own age yesterday; he even got a (pity) date for Valentine's week. A date that wasn't with Derek!

Even though he'd probably have one of those too. Ugh.

He could totally maintain a balance between adult friends and teenage friends. Besides, there was free pizza here, like he'd turn that down.

"So I haven't missed any weird drama over the last week, have I?" Kitty wondered. Because of course Stiles was the person to ask about that.

"I...don't think so?" Hey, he could have been behind on his news. "I haven't gotten any angry text messages so I think everything's been quiet."

"You get a lot of angry texts?" She sort of felt like that shouldn't surprise her.

"Two Dereks have my phone number, that's what half my texts consist of." The other half consisted of inappropriate come ons from Derek's uncle.

"I'm so sorry," she said, actually sort of meaning it.

"At least it's better than them glaring in person," Stiles said. "And Derek can't figure out emoticons so that's kind of funny."

Kitty tried not to look too amused. It didn't work. "The smiley face is kind of the easiest thing ever."

"It's the angry face he has trouble with," Stiles explained. "Or, as I like to call it, the Derek face."

"And now that's the only way I'll ever be able to think about it," Kitty realized.

"Good! I'm trying to make it a thing," Stiles said. "Don't tell him how to make it if he asks. He needs to learn how to work technology himself."

"I won't," she promised. "And when you really want to frustrate him, tell him about Emojis."

"God that might break his brain." Though actual Japanese schoolgirl Tyler Hoechlin would love it. "Thanks for inviting me to this, by the way."

Allie was only eighteen. There was nothing for the Sheriff to be concerned about. Really! Unless he had issues with the undead. Then there might be a problem.

"I think you're the only person in the room I don't know," Allie said.

"Oh hey, I don't know you either." Already they had something in common! "I'm Stiles. Kitty invited me."

"I'm Allie. I helped Kitty decide we needed a party after last week's fun," she replied. "Which wasn't so much fun as it was upsetting and possibly depressing for some people."

"Yeah it was a pretty intense week," Stiles admitted. "But everyone came out of it alive so it wasn't completely horrible."

Allie smiled, "I got to see my mom again. I'm not going to complain."

"So are you a student here? Or do you work in town?" See, no dwelling on the past. It was party. Time for fun.

Yeah, definitely not going to dwell, especially since Stiles didn't get to see his mom. He was only a little bitter about that.

"I'm only sixteen so I'm a student, yeah," he said. "I've just collected a lot of friends that work in bars since I've been here. Weird, since I don't really drink often."

"Now you know someone else. Friday nights at the Devil's Nest are mine," she told him. "Stop by and visit one night. Unless you'd rather hang out with Mike where you can drink."

"I'll have to do that," he said. "I don't mind not drinking. I'm perfectly content with cherry cokes. Especially since I don't have to pay for them at the Devil's Nest."

"Oh that's right, I saw that note. How the hell did you manage that?" Allie couldn't help but ask.

"I didn't do anything," Stiles said. "Derek pissed Eric off and that was his punishment."

"I can't imagine how Derek could piss someone off," Allie snickered. "He's so cheerful."

"Oh yeah, he's a bright ray of sunshine," Stiles said, smirking. "He brings joy to all that speak to him."
