With the way things had been going for everyone over the last few weeks, Kitty and Allie had decided it might be good to have a small, semi-quiet apartment party with friends where nothing traumatic happened and they could have fun.

Aaand then Kitty got in from California too late yesterday to get much of anything done so a lot of today was spent cleaning, shopping, and finding some game off the Internet, because with the group they'd invited, it might be good to have something to focus on rather than just glaring at people across the room. Which they'd probably do anyway, but at least it wouldn't be their whole night.

By the time people were due to start showing up, everything had been set up, the place looked presentable, and the pizza had gotten here in time for Kitty to box up a couple pieces for Lucky already, because shut up, that's why.

"I would think kicking a guy in the face would be like the highlight of that," Clint said, shifting closer to her. "Well, that and getting your friend back. I didn't know good surprises were a possibility."

"I forgot they were, too," Kitty admitted. "So I'm glad for the reminder that sometimes good things happen. And now I'm back, and I have you, and I get to spend time with friends, and I'm good here."

"I'm glad I'm part of that list of good things," Clint said, giving her another kiss. "I'm sorry if it's seemed like I've been worrying about you too much or something."

"You care about me, and you don't want to see me hurt. It's okay," she assured him. "Just know whatever the situation is, I've got this."

"I know you do. That's part of the reason I ended up so attracted to you in the first place," Clint said. "I like that I don't have to worry about you."

"I love that that's part of the reason," she admitted.

"I have a thing for women who could kick ass. I don't know what that says about me, but..." Clint trailed off with a shrug. "Anyway, is there anything I can do to help finish getting you set up?"

"Nope. This is all on me and Allie. You get to enjoy yourself," she told him. "Oh, though you can remind me later that there's pizza on the side for Lucky so I don't forget."

Girl was thoughtful.

"There is? You didn't have to do that." Which, of course, just made the act even sweeter. "You spoil him even more than I do, that's awesome."

"This is what happens when I kind of get dubbed a pet mom," Kitty said. "It'd be mean sending you back without any."
