With the way things had been going for everyone over the last few weeks, Kitty and Allie had decided it might be good to have a small, semi-quiet apartment party with friends where nothing traumatic happened and they could have fun.

Aaand then Kitty got in from California too late yesterday to get much of anything done so a lot of today was spent cleaning, shopping, and finding some game off the Internet, because with the group they'd invited, it might be good to have something to focus on rather than just glaring at people across the room. Which they'd probably do anyway, but at least it wouldn't be their whole night.

By the time people were due to start showing up, everything had been set up, the place looked presentable, and the pizza had gotten here in time for Kitty to box up a couple pieces for Lucky already, because shut up, that's why.

"I'm not wearing cufflinks," Coulson pointed out, raising his arm to show that off.

"That's just step one. You'd still fit in well in an office, which this is not. Am I going to have to take on the responsibility of helping you loosen up?" Clint asked. "It's a responsibility I'd be happy to take on."

"You can try, Barton, but I don't see you getting very far," Coulson said. "At best, you might get me to consider buying white socks." Crazy talk.

"White non-trouser socks?" Whoa Clint, one step at a time, seriously. "Are you here to enjoy yourself or to narc on us to the authorities?"

"The depends on how illegal things get here," Coulson said.

"Where does me bringing beer for my still-not-quite-21 year old girlfriend fall in terms of illegality?" For the record and all.

"In Fandom, not at all," Coulson said. "Even if that is weird and I'll never understand it."

"The drinking laws, not you and Miss Pryde."

"Honestly, sometimes I don't understand me and Kitty either," Clint admitted. "I wonder if you'd loosen up if we found someone for you to date too." Hey, he knew, at least, that Coulson wasn't opposed to dating in general.

"Probably not by your standards. My last girlfriend was a cellist. Saturday mornings were spent listening to NPR," Coulson pointed out. You know. When he wasn't out of town doing something amazing he legally couldn't divulge to her. "But it was a good time."

"Did you listen to NPR in a suit, that's my big question?" Clint said with a laugh. "You deserve to relax more than you do."

"I find listening to NPR in suits exceptionally relaxing," Coulson pointed out. "It adds something to Car Talk."

"Sir, if you don't mind me saying so, you are a really special kind of guy." That may not have been meant in an entirely complimentary way.

"That's what the trainers said back in the day, too," Coulson said. "I'll assume you mean it in the same way."
