MHA #10- Saturday evening

With the way things had been going for everyone over the last few weeks, Kitty and Allie had decided it might be good to have a small, semi-quiet apartment party with friends where nothing traumatic happened and they could have fun.

Aaand then Kitty got in from California too late yesterday to get much of anything done so a lot of today was spent cleaning, shopping, and finding some game off the Internet, because with the group they'd invited, it might be good to have something to focus on rather than just glaring at people across the room. Which they'd probably do anyway, but at least it wouldn't be their whole night.

By the time people were due to start showing up, everything had been set up, the place looked presentable, and the pizza had gotten here in time for Kitty to box up a couple pieces for Lucky already, because shut up, that's why.

"She wants everyone to be happier, I think," Clint said. "I heard you had a visit from a friend a little while ago."

He meant the dead one, since he wasn't sure whether or not it would be smart to mention he'd met Kate.

Derek tensed at that, watching Clint out of the corner of his eye. "Did you."

"When all the dead people showed up. Kitty might have suggested you were actually happy for a day." She'd done no such thing, but it was fun to tease Derek.

"My sister was here," Derek replied, some of the tension leaving as no mention of Kate was made. And yes, he had been beyond happy to see Laura.

"I heard about what was going on, but I didn't actually see anyone." Possibly because he wouldn't want to see most of the people he knew who were dead. "Was she happy to be here? It sounded like the whole thing was kind of oddly pleasant."

Damn it Derek, why did you have to make Clint feel bad for you? "I... didn't know that," he admitted. "I guess this place really can be mean all the time."
