25 Unicorn Street- Wednesday evening

Kitty got back late last night, which meant today she had been running around trying to get everything done for the party she had totally emailed everyone about earlier this week.

So now the house was decorated for a one-year-old's birthday party, which... wasn't super decorated because Lexi was one and didn't care. There was food and drink and party hats the guests were encouraged to wear because they made the birthday girl laugh (the dogs were totally wearing them), and Lexi had her own little princess chair that she kept crawling or toddling out of. At least the kid was having fun.

Come one, come all, enjoy a baby's birthday party!

"Ain't nothin'," Iris said, smiling. "Happy I could make it. Kiddo looks happy. It wild that it been a year already for you?"

"It feels like she's been around forever and I also don't understand how she's like an actual little person," Kitty admitted. "A little person who moves too damn fast."

Iris laughed.

"She keeps you on your toes, huh?" she teased. "I hear little people tend to do that, especially once they get mobile. She figured out how to open doors yet?"

"Not yet. And also that hadn't occurred to me before right now and suddenly I'm scared."

Lexi was a kid who would wander through portals someday, she'd get into so much trouble with doors.

"I'd be sorry, but at least now you got a chance to think 'bout it before it happens?" Iris said, though despite her words her smile was slightly apologetic.

"Yeah... do you think they sell baby doors? Like, six feet tall?"

They had to, right?

"I'm thinkin' that Zoe or Anakin might know more than me 'bout that sort of thing," Iris admitted. "But I'd think they'd exist?"

"I should make some calls," Kitty sighed. "So, how've you been?"

"I've been better," she admitted, after deciding how honest she wanted to be at a party for a baby. "But I've been worse too. Tryin' to get out and 'bout a bit; ain't never had that problem as a student."

"It's different as an adult," Kitty said. She'd gotten way better at it, but it'd been trial and error. "A lot of different people here than when you were a student?"

"Yeah," she said, with a bit of a sigh. "Ain't hardly no one that I remember and makin' the effort, well, that's a different beast altogether."

"I think it's actually kind of harder in a small town when everyone knows each other, too. Though at least effort can be easy enough," Kitty said. "At least you always have 'last weekend when we all turned into cats was crazy, huh?' as an icebreaker at parties."

"There's worse icebreakers, that's true enough," she conceded. "Honestly, it's more a me-problem than anythin' else."
