25 Unicorn Street- Wednesday evening

Kitty got back late last night, which meant today she had been running around trying to get everything done for the party she had totally emailed everyone about earlier this week.

So now the house was decorated for a one-year-old's birthday party, which... wasn't super decorated because Lexi was one and didn't care. There was food and drink and party hats the guests were encouraged to wear because they made the birthday girl laugh (the dogs were totally wearing them), and Lexi had her own little princess chair that she kept crawling or toddling out of. At least the kid was having fun.

Come one, come all, enjoy a baby's birthday party!

[If you want to have gotten an invite, you totally did!]

Iris was generally not a fan of children nor was she really good friends with Kitty or Cliff but, hey, she'd been invited and the mun was desperate for entertainment and it was better than...

Well, it was probably good for her to get out and about.

She hadn't been sure if she ought to bring a present, given Lexi's age and the fact that almost every list she checked out for ideas had included a xylophone...

(Which… seemed really kind of cruel to the parents...)

So Iris had gone the gift card route, figuring that if anything Kitty and Clint could find something to buy because, really, Lexi was probably at the age where the most exciting presents were cardboard boxes anyway.

She was maybe going to hide from the toddler as much as possible with a drink in hand though.

Rosa really hoped that Kitty understood that her even coming to a kid's birthday party (even when that kid was still in the acceptable birthday party age range) used up all her friendship points for the night, because she was absolutely not wearing any of those hats.

Well, she might if any of the alcohol included at this thing involved belinis, which was exactly why she was sticking to beer.

"Ain't nothin'," Iris said, smiling. "Happy I could make it. Kiddo looks happy. It wild that it been a year already for you?"

"For a kid I'm not even related to," Rosa reminded her.

So, yeah. She'd better freakin' appreciate it!

"True," Rosa agreed. It probably helped that the kid had some pretty good genes, too, but she wasn't going to actually say that, this exchange was already totally pushing her sacchirine and sweet conversation limits. So she just shook her head a little, brow furrowed slightly.

"Hard to believe it's been a year already."

She should not have been here long enough to watch a kid that she'd met as a bump turn one, dammit.

Rosa followed Kitty's eyes and had to shake her head again, because, honestly, nothing should be allowed to be that cute.

"I mean," she offered, "that is kind of how time works. Usually."

"I said usually," Rosa countered. "And my boyfriend's from the future, that counts for something, right? Also, those weekends when we turn into younger versions of ourselves should be worth half-points, at least."
died8yearsago: (ya think?)

"I'm surprised you don't already have one," Rosa admitted, because that totally meant docking off at least a few other points here for Less Neurotic (Not that that was hard) Fandom!Amy.
died8yearsago: (yup that sounds about right)

"Yeah, but," Rosa reasoned, even though she knew she herself had no idea if it actually even worked this way, but it sounded like the sort of thing smart people who were good with computers talked about, "you're smart and you're good with computer and stuff, so you could probably put together an algorithm or whatever to calculte that for you, right?"

There was...a pause.

"Although you are probably at the point where it'd be so high, it'd be busted before it even got halfway done."

"I think," said Rosa, thoughtfully, "if you were keeping those kind of records, you'd need to add a whole new room to your house just to keep them in.

"No," she amended, a moment later, "probabl a whole new wing.

"I haven't had the twenty years older one yet," she also noted. "Which is too bad. You know I'd make a pretty kick ass old lady."

Iris laughed.

"She keeps you on your toes, huh?" she teased. "I hear little people tend to do that, especially once they get mobile. She figured out how to open doors yet?"
intraspective: (Iris - the charmer unimpressed)

Iris did not know the other woman--beyond the fact that a) she was a detective and b) went by Rosa and hadn't really bothered to pry into her mind for more than that.

She'd had a lot on her own mind lately, never mind other peoples' minds.

"Yo," she said, saluting the other woman with her beer.
