Kitty could tell you how many days old Lexi was (fifteen) but unless she was looking at her phone, she was sort of lost on the day of the week. Or usually what time of day it was, since going to sleep and staying asleep all night was probably not a thing that was happening ever again. She changed what loungewear she was wearing every day? Was that a good marker of time?

And yet she still had stuff to do. Work work in addition to other stuff that had to get done around the house and all the baby stuff. She wasn't back to bartending yet, but she was still doing the paperwork side of business running, and so she had her laptop open while Lexi laid on the couch next to her, though the baby kept taking most of her attention. "I thought you were supposed to be helping me work," Kitty told her. "Pick up the slack, kid."

"Hi, I brought food," the pile of food with Steve's shoes on said, "that Tony and I had absolutely no part in making. There's baked pasta and muffins and other stuff that's quick to reheat."

"You are my very favorite Captain America," Kitty said gratefully, reaching to take at least some of it from him. "Thank you, you didn't have to do this."

"It's what my ma used to do when people had babies in our apartment building," Steve said with a smile. "Well, with less food, but I've seen Clint eat. And you're very welcome."

"There's been a lot of takeout," she admitted. "Want to put this down in the kitchen and you can actually see her?"

"Sure!" Steve said, looking a little nervous. "I won't break her, I promise."

"If you can't trust Cap with your baby, who can you trust?" Kitty said, pretty confident in him there. "Lexi, stay."

She led the way to the kitchen, putting some stuff down, and sticking her front into the fridge in order to put some of the refrigerated stuff away.

Opening doors was for suckers.

"She's moving?" decidedly-not-a-kid-expert Steve squeaked.

Kitty grinned. "No, I'm teasing her. Mostly she lays there. Though I'm sure she'll be moving around and terrorizing the dogs before I know it. Does anything else need to go in here?"

"The champagne Tony insisted on?" Steve said.

"That is possibly the most Tony thing I've ever heard," Kitty said, taking it to put inside the fridge.

Again, without the door.

Steve smiled. "I promise it doesn't cost as much as a car."

She frowned. "That wasn't really an option, right?"

Lie to her if you had to, Steve.

"Tony," Steve said with a quirk of his eyebrows, "but he's working on restraining himself. Slightly. When I'm telling him to."

"Thank you for that," she said, gratefully. "Especially since I haven't had a drink in over nine months and I'd feel bad about a car-priced bottle when four sips do me in."

"You're very welcome," Steve said. "Now I would be honored to meet your daughter."

"Boys should talk to her like that forever," Kitty decided, heading back into the living room to pick Lexi up. She was learning that handoffs were easier with people who might be nervous instead of having them do the picking up.

"So this is Lexi."

"She looked much bigger in the photo," Steve said, eyes going wide.

"Oh yeah, she's a tiny little thing," she confirmed. "Do you want to hold her?"

"Babies don't tend to like me," Steve admitted.

"She's pretty chill so far," Kitty told him.

"So were most of the babies I got handed on the USO tour," Steve muttered, "right until they met me."

He was a little nervous. Shhh.

"Lexi, don't cry at Steve," Kitty told her, before holding her out for him.

Steve held her like she was made of crystal. "Hello, small person," he said. "I'm Steve."

Lexi, got her part, yawned.

"Don't take that as a reflection on you," Kitty advised.

Steve laughed. "It's better than screaming?"
