Movie Sign Theater 3000- Thursday evening

It'd be pretty sad to say that Kitty thought she deserved a pat on the back for managing to wait like 48 hours for date #2 with Clint. So she wouldn't say it, but if anyone wanted to pat her on the back anyway, the line started right over here.

While there were probably wiser choices than sitting in a dark theater watching what would probably amount to an awful movie, they weren't as fun. So with plenty of time before the show started and any needed concessions gotten, the most important question was asked when they got into the actual theater: "Where should we sit?"

She was going to take a wild guess here that they weren't going anywhere near the front.

"At least I'm not the newest? Or, I won't be once stuff at the school starts again." Clint sat down next to Kitty and smiled. "I'm learning quickly. I've started to get used to the unexpected. And I should have known you can't trust something by how it looks."

She flipped up the arm rest between them- that would not be needed- and said, "At least things get smashed up here less than in bigger cities?"

She hadn't been here long enough to know any better, either.

"That's true. Sometimes I wonder why people still choose to live in New York," Clint said, perfectly content to lose the armrest so he could lean a little closer to Kitty. "I mean, I understand people who can't get out, but if you've got enough money to live in a nice place, and you could live anywhere else instead, it just doesn't make sense."

"Well, you're talking to a city girl here, so I'm a little biased," Kitty admitted. "Though I wouldn't want to see my place get wrecked every time there's a problem, either. That might get me to leave."

"I'm starting to think I've been smart to not spend much money on apartments. My version of the city's going to be rebuilding for a long time," Clint said. "It's not as hard when the building's kind of run down already."

"Can't disagree there," she agreed. "Is that where you're from?"

[so_hawkward]

Clint laughed as he shook his head. "Kind of? I was born in Iowa," he admitted. "Little town called Waverly, there's maybe about 10,000 people there if you're being generous. I've lived all over the place, so you're probably more of a city person than I am."

[throughaphase]

"Ohhh, a Midwest boy. Explains a lot," she said with a smile. "I'm from just outside Chicago, so yeah."

"Definitely more of a city person than me," Clint said, before narrowing his eyes at her. "Wait a second, what do you mean that explains a lot?"

"Nothing bad," she said with a laugh. "You're just really nice. The kind of guy who opens doors for a girl who could walk through them." Which she really did like.

"It takes more effort to be a jerk than to be nice, and nobody ever got anything good out of not being nice to a woman," Clint pointed out. "But if you want me to leave doors closed so you can show off, you just let me know." After a moment, he added, "Can I ask about the intangible thing, or is it something you don't like talking about?"

"No, no, keep opening doors all you want," she told him. "And you can ask. I'm not exactly trying to hide these days."

"It's not so much about hiding as... well, I don't think I know anyone who can do something amazing who hasn't had to pay some kind of price for their abilities," he said. "Have you always been able to do that?"

[throughaphase]

"Since I was thirteen. I'm a mutant," Kitty said, and she was fairly confident he wouldn't run screaming like a lot of people wanted to. "I've always had the gene, but I didn't know about it till I started falling through floors."

Clint still didn't know a whole lot about mutants thanks movie universe, but he was a pretty difficult guy to faze overall. "That sounds unpleasant. I take it you have better control over it now?"

[throughaphase]

"Much. I mean, intangible's my natural state now," she admitted. "I'm solid because I want to be, and I'm really really stubborn."

Not joking, either.

Clint looked at Kitty with something probably close to awe as he took that in. "Oh, wow. So, it's not like you turn your power on, it's like you're constantly making it stay off?"

"More or less. It's not hard to do anymore," she added quickly. "It's as natural as breathing now."

[so_hawkward]

"Still, that's a lot of effort to have to put into something," Clint said, cracking a smile. "Really, really stubborn, huh?"

[throughaphase]

"Yep. I've even got science to back me up on it." She smiled and patted his knee. "Good luck there."

Clint smirked, and tried to put his hand over hers before she could move it away. "I don't need luck. I like a good challenge. Especially when it's in regards to someone who's pretty amazing." Sure, she said it was easy, but that didn't make her any less awesome.

Considering she seemed pretty incapable of passing up opportunities to touch him, her hand was going to stay right where it was. "You're only saying that because you don't know me very well yet," Kitty teased.

"What, I don't know that I'm up for the challenge? Or I don't know that you're pretty amazing?" he asked. "Because I'm pretty sure about both of those things."

[throughaphase]

"I think you're pretty amazing, too," she told him. If she didn't, Wednesday wouldn't have seemed nearly as long.

"Yeah, well, I don't have any kind of fancy powers. Maybe you don't know me yet very well either," he pointed out.
