MHA #10- Saturday morning

It should surprise no one that last night's date had ended up at Kitty's place, and as it turned out, having a boyfriend for Valentine's Day two years in a row- the same boyfriend, no less, go her- was kind of awesome. That should also probably not be a surprise.

It took her a while to drag herself out of bed this morning, heading to the kitchen to put up coffee, because that was a necessary thing and the Perk was all the way outside. So yeah, just another ordinary morning, just like the ones everyone else was having before their weekends got turned upside down.

Clint both heard and felt Kitty out of bed, but it wasn't until he smelled coffee that he finally got out of bed himself. Minus a shirt because hey, Valentine's Day might have been over but Kitty still deserved nice things. "Hey," he said, rubbing his eyes. "Good morning and all."

"Morning," she said, going to give him a kiss. "We're having a weekend."

Clint blinked a little, finally took a good look around the kitchen, and turned around to go back to the bedroom. When he came back, he was fully dressed and grumbling as he tried to get his hair to not all stick up straight. "One freaking normal Saturday, that's all I ask for."

Well, the shirtless had been nice.

"Next week. Let's just go ahead and hope for next week," Kitty told him. "Because this one's not happening."

Not in front of kids! Especially ones that weren't his!

"Yeah, clearly. At least we're normal? That's always the thing I try to hope for."

"Go, us," Kitty said, holding her hand up for a high five.

Clint snickered and high-fived her. "It's kind of sad what we'll consider a win at this point."

"I prefer to think of it as us just being super adaptable," Kitty said. "Either that or we've both been here too long."

"A little of column A, a little of column B. At least the kids are cute? Usually?" Cute and terrifying to think about, but that was Clint's problem.

"I mean, Lexi's all kinds of squishable." And Kitty was maybe all over the idea of seeing her again and she didn't know what to do with that?

"And tiny and impressionable," Clint said, looking a little worried all of a sudden. "I think if any of these kids end up being real, there need to be conversations about portals."

"Oh, no doubt," Kitty said immediately. "No kid of mine for real is going to be going through any strange portals until she's at least eighteen."

"Definitely not. Not that I think a kid of mine will listen to me all that much," Clint said. "But hopefully they'll at least take portal business seriously."

"Ugh, no one wants to see you without a shirt, dad."

Which wasn't true, but for her it was. Because eeeeeew.

The last time someone had called him that, she'd been smaller and less annoyed-looking. "Well, someone probably does or you wouldn't be here."

Because that was an appropriate thing to say to a teenager.

"I mean, hi, sorry. Where did you come from?"

"New York," she decided on. "There was a portal. And someone didn't give the talk about portals."

Probably Derek's fault.

"Don't go near portals unless you made it and you know what's on the other side. It's a pretty short talk," Clint said. "But the lack of self-preservation definitely proves you're mine. What's your name?"

"Talia," she replied. "Found you first, so here I am."

"Well, I'd say you found me and your mom at the same time," Clint said, wandering away. "You can talk to her while I find a shirt." Because yeah, this was weird.

Talia snorted at that. "Yeah, there's no mommy in this scenario, dad."

Yeah, that got Clint coming back out very quickly. "Uh. Okay, I know I'm not a baby expert, but I'm pretty sure I know how they're made."

"Yeah, and then you get into a fist fight in Dr. Strange's office and you end up with a kid. So..."

"Man, I hate that guy," Clint muttered, before his eyes went a little wide. "Wait, was I fighting him? I'm not usually that dumb."

"No, you were fighting with my other dad," Talia replied. So happy Kitty was nice enough to get a camera. "Name's Derek. All eyebrows and, like, crazy overprotective. Drives a mini-van."

Clint stared at her. Then her stared at her some more. Then he opened his mouth and--nope, more staring.
