MHA #10- Saturday morning

It should surprise no one that last night's date had ended up at Kitty's place, and as it turned out, having a boyfriend for Valentine's Day two years in a row- the same boyfriend, no less, go her- was kind of awesome. That should also probably not be a surprise.

It took her a while to drag herself out of bed this morning, heading to the kitchen to put up coffee, because that was a necessary thing and the Perk was all the way outside. So yeah, just another ordinary morning, just like the ones everyone else was having before their weekends got turned upside down.

Clint blinked a little, finally took a good look around the kitchen, and turned around to go back to the bedroom. When he came back, he was fully dressed and grumbling as he tried to get his hair to not all stick up straight. "One freaking normal Saturday, that's all I ask for."

Well, the shirtless had been nice.

"Next week. Let's just go ahead and hope for next week," Kitty told him. "Because this one's not happening."

Not in front of kids! Especially ones that weren't his!

"Yeah, clearly. At least we're normal? That's always the thing I try to hope for."

"Go, us," Kitty said, holding her hand up for a high five.

[so_hawkward]

Clint snickered and high-fived her. "It's kind of sad what we'll consider a win at this point."

"I prefer to think of it as us just being super adaptable," Kitty said. "Either that or we've both been here too long."

[so_hawkward]

"A little of column A, a little of column B. At least the kids are cute? Usually?" Cute and terrifying to think about, but that was Clint's problem.

"I mean, Lexi's all kinds of squishable." And Kitty was maybe all over the idea of seeing her again and she didn't know what to do with that?

"And tiny and impressionable," Clint said, looking a little worried all of a sudden. "I think if any of these kids end up being real, there need to be conversations about portals."

[throughaphase]

"Oh, no doubt," Kitty said immediately. "No kid of mine for real is going to be going through any strange portals until she's at least eighteen."

[so_hawkward]

"Definitely not. Not that I think a kid of mine will listen to me all that much," Clint said. "But hopefully they'll at least take portal business seriously."

[throughaphase]

Kitty looked at him thoughtfully. "I bet when they're little they'll listen to you. And then once they're teenagers, forget it."

"I think that goes for all kids," Clint said. "It's kind of reassuring to see that most of the kids are happy too." Especially for when Clint felt like he was going to fail like a great failing thing at the whole parent concept.

"It's so nice to know we don't suck," Kitty agreed. Everyone probably had that worry, at least to some degree.

After a moment, Clint asked, "Do you worry about that? Or is it just me?"

"Oh, I totally worry about it," she admitted. "My parents did everything right up to a certain point and I still ended up with issues. Add in people being stupid about mutants... You worry about that?"

[so_hawkward]

"Well, yeah. I didn't exactly have good examples of how to parent. And everything says people turn into their parents whether they want to or not, so..." Yeah, she could probably figure out Clint's concern there.

[throughaphase]

"And sometimes people are a lot better than their parents because they know what not to be like," Kitty pointed out.

[so_hawkward]

"Maybe," Clint said, sounding like he at least partly believed it when she said it. "If I had help, and I wasn't going at it alone."

"Well, if we get to that point-" Kinda scary to say, yep. "-you wouldn't be. And I don't put up with badness."

[so_hawkward]

"Obviously not, if you've been with me this long," Clint teased. "I just--needed to hear that, thank you."

"You're gonna stay awesome," she assured him, leaning in to give him another kiss. The children could deal.
