MHA #10- Saturday morning

It should surprise no one that last night's date had ended up at Kitty's place, and as it turned out, having a boyfriend for Valentine's Day two years in a row- the same boyfriend, no less, go her- was kind of awesome. That should also probably not be a surprise.

It took her a while to drag herself out of bed this morning, heading to the kitchen to put up coffee, because that was a necessary thing and the Perk was all the way outside. So yeah, just another ordinary morning, just like the ones everyone else was having before their weekends got turned upside down.

"Ugh, no one wants to see you without a shirt, dad."

Which wasn't true, but for her it was. Because eeeeeew.

The last time someone had called him that, she'd been smaller and less annoyed-looking. "Well, someone probably does or you wouldn't be here."

Because that was an appropriate thing to say to a teenager.

"I mean, hi, sorry. Where did you come from?"

"New York," she decided on. "There was a portal. And someone didn't give the talk about portals."

Probably Derek's fault.

"Don't go near portals unless you made it and you know what's on the other side. It's a pretty short talk," Clint said. "But the lack of self-preservation definitely proves you're mine. What's your name?"

"Talia," she replied. "Found you first, so here I am."

"Well, I'd say you found me and your mom at the same time," Clint said, wandering away. "You can talk to her while I find a shirt." Because yeah, this was weird.

Talia snorted at that. "Yeah, there's no mommy in this scenario, dad."

Yeah, that got Clint coming back out very quickly. "Uh. Okay, I know I'm not a baby expert, but I'm pretty sure I know how they're made."

"Yeah, and then you get into a fist fight in Dr. Strange's office and you end up with a kid. So..."

"Man, I hate that guy," Clint muttered, before his eyes went a little wide. "Wait, was I fighting him? I'm not usually that dumb."

"No, you were fighting with my other dad," Talia replied. So happy Kitty was nice enough to get a camera. "Name's Derek. All eyebrows and, like, crazy overprotective. Drives a mini-van."

Clint stared at her. Then her stared at her some more. Then he opened his mouth and--nope, more staring.

"Yup."

"But... no." This was a super mature response, for sure. "Derek? Creepy Derek? Bad person Derek?"

"What?" Talia asked, making a face. "Ugh, I hate dealing with you two when you fight."

Oh yeah, they were sounding like fathers of the year here. "Are there times when we don't fight?"

"You only bickered a little when I got called into the principal's office last week." Which was totally them getting along.

"And why exactly were you in the principal's office?" Clint said. He was perfectly willing to let go of the Derek thing for the moment for that question.

She sighed again, like this was killing her. "It wasn't even my fault! They picked the fight. I just finished it."

Clint had to fight not to frown too hard. "That is an important distinction. Are you getting picked on a lot at school?"

"No. Just other people." Because she gave off that 'can kick your ass, apex predator' vibe that came with being a werewolf.

"And you're defending them? I don't know whether I should be proud of that or tell you to stop," Clint said.

Talia sighed again. So annoyed by everything in her life. "I know. Dad already gave me the whole disappointed look and lecture about not hurting humans even if they're assholes."

He did not use that word. But it was implied. Because she wasn't allowed to use that word.

"Well, you shouldn't hurt anyone who's not a jerk," Clint insisted. "Does that mean, uh, you take after your other dad?"

Sigh, he was just cursed to have kids who were some sort of special something, wasn't he?

"Yeah. Puberty has been a real thrill with that added in."

Sorry, Clint. Apparently she took after her Aunt Cora.
