A costume shop on the mainland- Thursday afternoon

Since last year had actually worked out so well, Kitty had decided to drag Derek out to help her find a Halloween costume this year, too. Which, considering the last time they'd gone shopping he'd instituted a limit on how low her neckline could go, getting through costumes that got sluttier every year might be interesting.

"So just as a warning," Kitty said as they headed inside the shop to look, "if you find a sexy owl costume this year, you can just go ahead and put it back."

"It's a party at your house," she amended. "Look, you don't even have to put a ton of work into it. Jeans, white t-shirt, construction hat, and you've got a costume. Or throw on a flannel and get a fake axe and say you're a lumberjack."

"A lumberjack?" He did have the majestic beard for it...

"Or something in that field of work, if that's your thing," she said encouragingly.

He watched a little too much Mountain Men lately, so...

"We can get a fake ax."

"See, no fuss and you won't stick out as the only person who didn't dress up," she said.

"Fine." He wasn't going to enjoy it, though.

And Kitty's day was made.

"So with that settled-" Really pretty easily too! "-what do you think of this?"

"I think you should keep bondage in the bedroom."

So helpful, he was.

"That could happen after," Kitty shrugged.

[justlurkinghere]

"So much I didn't need to know."

So, so much, Kitty.

Kitty just smiled. "There needs to be more options. Or maybe fewer slutty monster costumes. What's up with that, by the way?"

"Don't look at me, I don't even celebrate the holiday."

[throughaphase]

"Except for allowing parties to take place at your house. And I assume by eating candy." Because everyone ate Halloween candy.

[justlurkinghere]

"It's hidden in the closet."

Yeah. Think about that.

[throughaphase]

Kitty blinked. "You hide your Halloween candy in the closet?"

[justlurkinghere]

"Yeah." That should clearly be obvious. "Otherwise Stiles would eat it all."

[throughaphase]

"You could just buy it at the last minute," she said. Which was what she did so she didn't eat it all.

[justlurkinghere]

"Or I could hide it." A beat. "Don't tell him where it is."

LEAVE IT IN THE CLOSET.

"I won't," she promised. "Halloween candy is for Halloween. There are rules."

[justlurkinghere]

"Good."

Derek paused, holding up a costume for her. "I think this is a contender."

[throughaphase]

"Wooow," Kitty said, staring. "Well, Lucky would love me. But how about we also stay away from sexy food?"

[justlurkinghere]

"Well, I give up." He gave up a long time ago, Kitty. Don't let him fool you.

[throughaphase]

"That's your contribution?" Kitty said. "Oh, Derek."

[justlurkinghere]

"I really don't need to see you half naked. Ever." Just as an FYI.

[throughaphase]

"...Thank you?" That was a weird thing to hear from pretty much anyone. "Just for that I'm going to be something that requires fishnets."
