MHA #10- Saturday morning

Kitty had had a great week. Getting to spend a ridiculous amount of time in bed with a hot boyfriend and not having anything to feel bad about at the end of it? She was all for that. That said, it was a relief to wake up with said hot boyfriend and feel normal again. What could she say, she liked her brain and liked having it not fogged up constantly. Also, she sort of needed a break, ow.

In the name of doing normal, non-sexy things, Kitty was starting with breakfast. She'd never really tried to cook cook to know or care if she was any good at it, but she could pour pancake mix into a pan and flip it when it was solid. She could also put up coffee and call it multitasking. And okay, part of her good mood had to do with the last few days, but that didn't mean she wasn't ruling this morning like a champ.

"Uh huh," she said, hugging him back tightly. "Was that hug worth five bucks?"

A girl had to try.

"Maybe five cents. But what do you need money for? I'll take care of anything you need." Clint didn't know much about how to be a dad, but that seemed like kind of a Parenting 101 thing.

"I have expenses," Lexi said, trying to sound grown up when she had no idea what expenses were.

"That's an awfully big word for someone so short. You must be very smart," Clint remarked as he brought her inside and shut the door, really hoping that there weren't any more kids trailing behind her.

"I try," she said, looking around. "It smells like food."

And now she was looking forward to food.

"There's pancakes. And coffee, but you probably shouldn't have that." Was there juice? Surely Kitty had healthy things around. Why didn't he pay better attention to the inside of her fridge. "You can have a pancake though if you tell me how you got here."

"I went through a portal," Lexi explained. "And then I walked here. You and Mom showed me here before."
so_hawkward: ([posi] listening to you)

[personal profile] so_hawkward 2013-04-07 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh did we?" Clint asked, wondering who "Mom" was. "What did we show you?"
ahawkwardphase: (proud)

[personal profile] ahawkwardphase 2013-04-07 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Everywhere. I'm like an expert," she exaggerated. "I like the places where let me watch you shoot. You guys won't let me go in the bar even if the zombies won't eat me."
so_hawkward: ([neut] looking at you)

[personal profile] so_hawkward 2013-04-07 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
If the bar was an option, that meant Kitty, and somehow that made the knot in Clint's stomach loosen a little. "You don't know that the zombies won't eat you. You might be the perfect size for a snack for them and we have to keep you safe."
ahawkwardphase: (looking up)

[personal profile] ahawkwardphase 2013-04-07 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
"And Mom would phase me and you would shoot them," Lexi reasoned. "See, nothing to worry about!"
so_hawkward: ([posi] laughing)

[personal profile] so_hawkward 2013-04-07 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Something tells me your mom and I worry about you anyway." Something like how he was already nervous. "I can't shoot everything, you know."
ahawkwardphase: (okay)

[personal profile] ahawkwardphase 2013-04-07 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
"No, but you can shoot zombies, Dad," Lexi said patiently.

Was Kitty totally watching this? Of course she was.
so_hawkward: ([posi] tiny smile of hope)

Hopefully, Kitty wasn't judging how uncomfortable a child being comfortable with his shooting was making him. "It's probably easier to keep you away from the zombies in the first place," he said. "Your mom can deal with them because... well, she's just that good."
ahawkwardphase: (doubtful)

[personal profile] ahawkwardphase 2013-04-07 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
"What about when I'm big enough to be that good?" Which Lexi thought should be in about two weeks.

[personal profile] so_hawkward 2013-04-07 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, your mom's also kind of special, you know," Clint said since she hadn't seemed fazed about mentioning, well, the phasing.
ahawkwardphase: (looking up)

[personal profile] ahawkwardphase 2013-04-07 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"She's a mutant," Lexi said. "Me too!"
so_hawkward: ([neut] looking at you)

[personal profile] so_hawkward 2013-04-07 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, well then. Don't mind Clint, he'd just be over here wondering how he - how any version of him in any future - could possibly protect a mutant child. "I guess I'm lucky to have two special ladies, huh?"
ahawkwardphase: (happy)

[personal profile] ahawkwardphase 2013-04-07 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yep," Lexi said happily. "Though we're not s'posed to say special 'cause I'm not really different than anybody else."

Which is what happened when you had Kitty for a mother.
