MHA #10- Saturday morning

Kitty sort of thought that maybe if she'd stayed at college, turning twenty might mean something to her somehow. But when she was living here and had been managing a business for a year and hadn't actually felt like a teenager for years anyway, it was just another year. At least it'd make everyone feel better to say her boyfriend was in his thirties without having to affix a "-teen" onto any words concerning her?

Her grand plans for the day involved not going in to work, not even in the daytime when she was just working in the office, not working out because it was her birthday and she didn't have to today, dammit, and ice cream, though she hadn't decided what its full involvement might be yet. Also, apparently phone calls. Turns out that when you gave the X-Men a way to contact you after cutting yourself off for a year, the ones you were close to made a point to do things like call you when you turned a year older. That part, Kitty would admit, was kind of nice.

With no one to talk to at the moment, Kitty curled up on the sofa to do some channel surfing, half-expecting the perfect movie to be on somewhere because it was her day and she was pretty sure that was how things were supposed to work.

"So you were planning on a day of nothing?" Clint said, partly teasing.

"TV and potential ice cream could be something," Kitty grinned. "...But yeah, pretty much."

[so_hawkward]

"Now your potential ice cream is real ice cream," Clint said, offering her the pint. "Do you want to get bowls or should we just get spoons and go for it?"

[throughaphase]

"We just go for it," she said, taking the ice cream and backing towards the kitchen to get some spoons. "I'm also not doing dishes on my birthday."

"I figured you'd pick that option," Clint said as he followed her. "Why dirty dishes when you don't have to?"

"And spoons are utensils so they don't really count," Kitty said, handing him one. "I'm so glad you get me."

[so_hawkward]

"I'm trying," Clint said genuinely. "It helps that you're... I don't know, 'normal' isn't really the right word. Down to earth? Sensible?"

"I hear you calling me not normal," Kitty teased, even though she knew what he meant.

"When you walk through walls to get from place to place, you lose the ability to classify as normal," Clint insisted. "But that's okay, because normal would just be boring."

"I never thought normal was boring," Kitty told him, opening the ice cream. There'd been a lot of times she'd kind of wanted to be normal, even. "But I like knowing I'm not boring to you."

"Normal seems boring sometimes when everyone has superpowers but you," Clint explained. "But even without your powers, I can't imagine you not being exciting."

"That's because my greatness is separate from my genetic makeup," she said, but she was maybe trying to pretend she wasn't blushing at that.

[so_hawkward]

"Oh, I don't know, there's a lot that's great about your genetic makeup," Clint said, blatantly looking her over. "Even if you are one year closer to being an old lady now."

[throughaphase]

"Says the older man who walked to my apartment without half his clothes," Kitty said, lightly poking him in his chest.

Clint winced like the poking was painful, even as he laughed. "Hey, I have at least three-fifths of my clothes," he protested. "And you're only as old as you feel. Or something."

"I completely believe that. What did you ditch that we're at three-fifths?"

It was an important question.

"A shirt and... coat?" Clint said. "I'm not missing anything else, before you get ideas."

[throughaphase]

"Too late," Kitty said, holding out the ice cream to let him take some. "Already had 'em."

[so_hawkward]

"I feel like I'm setting myself up to have to do something really dirty," Clint teased. "I don't know how I feel about that."

[throughaphase]

"You left your shirt at home," she said with a giggle. "I have a feeling you feel pretty good about that."

Meanwhile she was realizing she might have to top this at some point.

"Well, in the privacy of your own home, maybe..." Clint said. If she wanted to up the ante, he wouldn't mind at all.

[throughaphase]

"You know that just makes me wonder about the level of really dirty you set yourself up for," Kitty grinned.

[so_hawkward]

Clint smirked, taking his time with a spoonful of ice cream to think about that. "Hey, it's not my birthday. I think you're the one who gets to decide the dirtiness level," he pointed out.

"Are you sure about that? Because that could be trouble."

That might not have been so much a warning as incentive.

[so_hawkward]

"Trouble from you would definitely be the good kind of trouble," Clint said, licking his spoon clean. Just being with Kitty was the good kind of trouble, and he liked to think about what other kinds they could get into.
