MHA #10- Saturday afternoon

After a perfectly normal day in Chicago that didn't include any seizures or the killing of anyone, accidentally or otherwise, Kitty finally got back to her apartment.

She'd fully intended on just jumping into things like normal when she got home... and managed the super daunting task of unpacking before proceeding to sit on the sofa thinking/moping. For like an hour. At that point she decided this wasn't productive and she was bored with herself, and picked up her phone to send a text. Not that she particularly wanted to tell anyone what had happened, but she'd have to do it at some point.

While that didn't make it all better- that'd be a while- it did make her feel better, so don't mind the huge hug or anything. "Thank you."

"You're welcome. I'm just glad you're back, and that you're not hurt now. That's all that matters," Clint said.

"And I didn't cry once." Probably because Clint had the reaction that he did.

"Because you're badass," Clint said easily. "I wouldn't think less of you if you did that either though. You'd just get another hug."

"Good. Becaujse you're good at hugs and I'm a crier," Kitty warned. "I kind of had to explain it to a lot of people. Maybe I got it out of my system." She was probably wrong.

"If you didn't, I'll be here. Lucky can help too." From where he was sprawled on the floor, Lucky picked his head up and sniffed at them, which Clint was taking as confirmation.

"Have I mentioned lately you're the best?" she said, completely seriously. "And Lucky by association."

[so_hawkward]

"I guess that makes you pretty awesome too, since I like you so much," Clint said, leaning in to give her a kiss. "Whatever you need, you just let me know, okay?"

"This is a good start," Kitty told him. She hadn't thought she'd be feeling better at all for a much longer time than this. "Unless you've got a time machine..."

"I wish I did. I guess you'll have to settle for hugs for now," Clint said.

"Lucky for me you're so good at them." See, she found a positive in all this.

"And I have a limitless supply, so you can take as many as you want." Not that she'd need them because see: badass. That was much better to imply.

"You say that now, and then I'm gonna end up calling you at 3 am for one." She was teasing. Mostly. For some strange reason she wasn't sleeping very well.

"You could, or I could just stay. If you think that 3 am thing is gonna happen," Clint offered.

"I wouldn't turn that down even on a normal day," Kitty told him.

[so_hawkward]

"Then that's settled," Clint said, relaxing a little on the couch. "I'd never turn that idea down either."

Considering some of her other issues from the last week, she was glad to hear that, too.

"And then you and your accidentally-adopted dog can help enjoy what's going to be the laziest rest of the day ever," she said, even managing a smile.

"I can be lazy, but only for you," he teased. "Lucky's got the lazy thing down pat, so he'll be a good help." That smile was nice to see, and Clint was determined to make it happen more in the coming days.

Kitty relaxed, satisfied with that... and then remembered something now that she was through her slightly self-centered moping. "...Did you say he was biting bad guys?"

So she was slow on the uptake at times like these.

"Yeah, he's a good guard dog," Clint said, aiming to focus on that and not where the bad guys had come from. "He will be again once he heals up and gets his strength back."

"What's wrong with him?" Kitty wondered.

[so_hawkward]

"The person he was biting responded by throwing him into oncoming traffic," Clint said, unable to hide all of his anger as he remembered what had happened. "I tried to stop him from getting hit but there was only so much I could do. It... might have possibly been my fault."

Well there was a dog who needed to get better quick so he could get all the cuddles in the world... "The only person at fault is the sociopath who threw him into traffic," Kitty said. "Who does that?"

"Someone who works for a guy who's perfectly happy throwing good people onto the street if it means making more money," Clint said with just a touch of bitterness. "Luckily, I got him to a good vet. Cranky, but good."

"And how is this supposed to be your fault? Because you're sounding pretty great here," Kitty said.
