MHA #10- Saturday afternoon

After a perfectly normal day in Chicago that didn't include any seizures or the killing of anyone, accidentally or otherwise, Kitty finally got back to her apartment.

She'd fully intended on just jumping into things like normal when she got home... and managed the super daunting task of unpacking before proceeding to sit on the sofa thinking/moping. For like an hour. At that point she decided this wasn't productive and she was bored with herself, and picked up her phone to send a text. Not that she particularly wanted to tell anyone what had happened, but she'd have to do it at some point.

"Yeah, I'm all right," Clint said, sighing softly. "My landlord in New York was trying to get everyone out of the building by tripling the rent on people who can barely deal with the rent as it is. I gave him money to cover everyone, but the offer was refused and... we had a bit of a disagreement, which got out of hand a little quicker than I'd expected. I got thrown out past some bodyguards who were Lucky's previous owners and... well, the lesson, I guess, is that it's always good to pet and feed a dog before you end up pissing off its owners."

"So... you tried to pay off everyone's rent, got shot at for your trouble, and rescued the hurt dog from these guys," Kitty said slowly, more than a little awed. "How are you real?"

Okay, when it was all put together like that, Clint had to admit, he did sound pretty nice. "I ended up buying the building outright, because it seemed like the only way to make sure everyone would have a place to stay. I made one of my neighbors the landlord 'cause he needed a job and he was going around fixing stuff anyway, so he might as well get paid for it. And I couldn't just leave the dog. He saved my life. The vet wanted to put him down, but... it wasn't an option."

Stop giving her all these feelings by being awesome, Clint.

"Yeah, I'm keeping you," Kitty said after a moment, leaning in to kiss him.

Knowing that the people he cared about were safe was enough of a reward for Clint, but he wasn't about to turn down hot girlfriend kisses too. "If you insist," he said.
