Avengers Tower-Clint's New York- Saturday night

Once the wedding was done, everyone moved inside for the reception. There were plenty of lights strung up, and despite all the worries over where to seat people, there was enough room for everyone and probably no fights would break out during the reception at least. Everyone cross your fingers.

It was time for a party!

They'd gotten through the whole ceremony without anyone throwing punches or interrupting the wedding or whatever.

"Boring," Tamsin muttered, snatching a drink off of somewhere. Then again, the night was still young.

"Where did you get that drink and how can I get about five of them?"

Tamsin pointed over to... the now-empty platter. "I guess you're going to have to go over to the bar like the rest of them," she said. "Or wait for someone to swing by with something."

Tony made a face because then he'd have to interact with more people he knew and didn't know at all. It was so awkward. "I should probably wait."

While using Tamsin as a human shield.

"I'm sure somebody will show up sooner or later with drinks for their friends that we can steal," Tamsin said, eyeing him. "You can just duck behind a table or something, you know."

Yeah, she was pretty sure she'd stolen a drink from someone at a party hosted by and for superhumans.

She had the power to literally weaponize people's insecurities. You didn't need to be an expert to realize that made you the most powerful person around in a room full of superheroes.

Tony would let the other Tony take the blame for it. They were good.

"I could, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm watching an alternate version of myself and my personal assistant snuggling." Uncool, MCU. Making him sad and jealous of himself.

"Awkward?" Tamsin asked. There was a small sprinkle of sympathy in there.

Maybe.

If you squinted.

To add more dimension to it, Jessica also had a minor crush on Pepper. So. There was that.

"Awkward," he agreed.

"It's okay," Tamsin said. "I'm sure he's got his shit absolutely not together at all in some other way."

COMFORTING.

Well, it got Tony to snort in amusement at least. And then snag two drinks off the tray of a passing server who pulled a double take at the second Tony Stark.

"Thank you for thinking my life is together. It warms my heart," he said, offering her the other glass.

Tamsin snagged the glass and took a sip. "Well, you're not dying in a gutter somewhere," she said. "You've got a roof over your head and enough money to burn on coming to some wedding in another dimension. So there's a small fraction of together in there somewhere."

"Those are some amazingly low standards," Tony replied, lifting his glass in a toast before downing it.

Tamsin took a big gulp of hers, but didn't quite down it just yet. "The older you get, the lower your standards," she said dryly.

Sort of. She could still have really high standards about many things, actually.

Tony gave her a pat on the shoulder for that. "I'll keep that in mind."

And continue to make bad choices in relationships.

It was a more poignant statement if you knew Tamsin was over a thousand years old, really.

"I'll play lookout for you if you keep bringing me drinks," she said.

"I'm pretending you're my date if I end up cornered by anyone I know," Tony replied. It would surprise no one he was here with someone pretty and murderous. "But I'll keep you liquored up for it."

Tamsin rolled her eyes. "Just don't pitch a fit if I leave with someone else tonight," she said.

"You'd leave me for someone else?" Tony asked with mock hurt. "Is it because I won't put out?"

"It's because there's at least four people here who are prettier than you," Tamsin said. She tilted her head. "... Five."

"Well, there goes my fragile ego."

"It's okay," Tamsin said, patting his shoulder. "At least half of them seem more stuck-up than you."

"Be still my heart," Tony replied, batting his eyes at her. "Let me know who you have your eye on. I'll try to let you know if it's a bad idea."

As he was the expert on such things.

"I was either going to go with some of the stupid but hot-looking ones with all the muscles," Tamsin said conversationally, "Or talk to Jess."

Jess was a good choice.

"Please tell me you're not talking about Thor."

"Is he blond?" Tamsin asked. "Because if so, yes."
