MHA #10- Saturday night

Needless to say, the party had been planned before Kitty woke up with boyparts. Every time this had happened, she tried to just hide out as much as possible, but it looked like that wasn't so much happening this time. So, fine, you won this one, Fandom. At least she probably wouldn't be the only one.

The apartment was cleaned, even if some stuff had been shoved into the ever-growing pile of "stuff I didn't feel like dealing with right now" in Kitty's closet. There were snacks and pizza set out, and the fridge was stocked with sodas and True Blood. Keeping Flash in mind, she was even trying to keep things non-alcoholic so it wouldn't be weird for him. Everything was all set, even if argh why why why.

At least no one was gonna have to worry about conversation-starters, right? And some things during game night might be more interesting.

"Totally," Jack said, also failing at being bro-ish. "Kitty. Good to see you. New haircut?"

Werewolf senses helped on weekends like this. Genitalia might change, but scents stayed almost the same.

"Something like that," she said, automatically reaching to the back of her neck because she was used to long hair these days. "Hello, how are you?"

"It's a good week," Jack answered. "Kate came into town for her party, and now I have this, and Emma's visiting. How are you?"

Other than the obvious.

"Forever stressed and stuck with guy parts, but at least I'm having fun here," Kitty said. "That's something, right?"

"Absolutely," Jack nodded. "Are you stressed for any reason, or just the fun of island life."

"I'm working at a school in New York a couple days a week," Kitty said, since she wasn't sure exactly how much he knew given that Emma looked pretty young. "Working with mutants at a time when things are pretty rough for us."

"Is there ever a time when things aren't rough for you?" Jack wondered. Which was about as much as he knew,though he had picked up that a version of Emma taught in at least Jono's world.

"I think there was a week back in like 2008?" Kitty said. "I get to work with your girlfriend and everything now, too."

"I've heard she ends up teaching mutants in some places," Jack nodded. "But I still can't see it, even though I know it's one of the things she's going to school for."

"She's headmistress. And teaches ethics." Ethics, Jack! "It's interesting."

Jack coughed a quick laugh into his fist but otherwise kept his personal opinion of Emma's ethics -- or lack thereof -- to himself. "I'll bet. What are you teaching?"

"I'm the guidance counselor," Kitty said. "I don't have enough time to teach a class there too, so instead I talk teenagers through their problems."

Yep, that was a large source of the stress.

"Mutant teenagers," Jack added. "So basically all the angst in the world comes through your office. I'm not sure they could pay me enough."
