MHA #10- Saturday night

Needless to say, the party had been planned before Kitty woke up with boyparts. Every time this had happened, she tried to just hide out as much as possible, but it looked like that wasn't so much happening this time. So, fine, you won this one, Fandom. At least she probably wouldn't be the only one.

The apartment was cleaned, even if some stuff had been shoved into the ever-growing pile of "stuff I didn't feel like dealing with right now" in Kitty's closet. There were snacks and pizza set out, and the fridge was stocked with sodas and True Blood. Keeping Flash in mind, she was even trying to keep things non-alcoholic so it wouldn't be weird for him. Everything was all set, even if argh why why why.

At least no one was gonna have to worry about conversation-starters, right? And some things during game night might be more interesting.

Mike had beer and snacks with him, because he was a great guy like that.

"... Did everyone turn into dudes again?"

He also brought all the super perceptive questions.

"Yep. Fandom's terrible, hi, how are you," Kitty greeted him.

"Kitty?" Mike guessed. They'd known each other for a few years and he wasn't as dumb as he thought he could perhaps seem sometimes. "Hi. I'm cool. I brought beer."

It seemed like people might need it.

"You're the best, thank you," she said. "And yeah, it's me. I'll stop grumbling about it at some point tonight, I swear."

"'S okay, grumble away. I know it's weird." And he wasn't a terrible person so he wan't going to be making fun of anyone. Much. "The beer's retroactively meant to make that easier."

"And you're going to be everyone's favorite person for that," she said, taking the beer so she could put it in the fridge. "So how are you?"

Mike shrugged. "I'm cool. The usual. Totally leaving Tino to man your business tonight, but that's about the only interesting thing I have going on."

Apart from various off-island job things.

"I'm kinda jealous," Kitty said. "I miss having one interesting thing going on."

That had last happened when she was thirteen years old, FYI.

"What gave it away?" Allie grinned.

"The amount of testosterone is way higher than what I'm used to," he shared. "In my social circles 'round here, anyway. So, it was either island weirdness or an influx of new dudes."

"Weirdness wins again. I'll only give it a four on the freak out scale though. Mostly because I've done this once before," she admitted.

"Yeah, it gets easier with repeats, right?" he replied, with a little shrug. "You get to save your freak out energy for other things."

Allie nodded the nod of someone who'd been through multiple rounds of island weirdness. "Like the time my mother turned up at my door."

Mike's eyebrows went way up.

"That happened?"

"That happened," she said with a shrug of what can you do? Fucking island... "It was weird, but kind of comforting in a strange way."

"How often does this happen, exactly?" Irene asked. "I bought clothes just in case, to be prepared for next time."

And because she was not going to wear a sweatshirt all weekend, thank you.

Mike shrugged a shoulder and gave her a lopsided smile. "'Bout once a year, I think?" he offered. "I know it's only hit me once so far."
