MHA #10- Sunday morning

Kitty's mental narrative today mainly consisted of "Ugh".

The 50's mentality she'd had going on didn't upset her that much, because the total idiocy she'd been rocking far overshadowed it, and it'd been going on longer than her monochromaticness. Being that dumb was kind of insulting. And really embarrassing. And she'd been like that in front of Clint, and ugh.

This morning was seeing her sitting on the sofa in her apartment (totally not hiding, nope), reading through one of her old astrophysics textbooks to prove to herself that her brain functioned again. It just made her feel better.

Now that everyone in town seemed to be back to normal, Clint figured he'd better check on Kitty to make sure she was recovering okay. He headed for her apartment and knocked on the door, then pressed his head against it to see if he could hear her inside.

To be fair, Kitty probably should have expected a visit today. She debated pretending she wasn't there, then decided that was stupid and got up to answer the door. "I have my brain back," she greeted him.

"Awww, does that mean you're not going to be taking care of me after the long day I've had?" Clint asked, but he moved in to give her a hug as well.

"Maybe tomorrow," she sighed, tightening her arms around him. "Sorry you had to see me like that."

"Considering the variety of ways you've seen me, it's really not a big deal," Clint said. "And hey, now you can rest assured that your intelligence is a huge factor in how attracted I am to you."

"Are you saying I wasn't attractive when I had a IQ of six?" Kitty half teased.

"Oh, you were still pretty, but I wouldn't have taken you home except to wrap you in a blanket and protect you from yourself," Clint said. "If you need some help cleaning up at the bar, you just need to let me know."

"You're my favorite," Kitty told him. "Come in, there's been wallowing and reminding myself I'm smart."

"You're very, very smart," Clint said as he went in. "Way smarter than me, for what that's worth."

"Hey, you're smart enough to know to date me," Kitty said with a little smile. "Were you unaffected the whole time?"

"Yeah. It was really, really nice," Clint said, unable to keep from looking a little smug. "But now I know how you've been feeling all these times, maybe. It was hard to just watch and not be able to fix everything."

"Like how you kept offering to get things for me?" Which was seriously sweet.

"You kept knocking stuff over. I couldn't just let you mess your place up without trying to help," Clint said, like it was an obvious move. "But you were all housewife-like, which might have weirder than the being stupid part."

"That was weirder?" Kitty said, heading back over to the sofa and leaving him room. "You know I have to ask how."

Because Kitty could pass it off as having been a glorified waitress. One who probably only got pity tips.

Clint shrugged as he sat down next to her. "It just wasn't you. I mean, the dumb part wasn't you either, but I felt more like I was taking advantage of you when you were being so nice, and there wasn't any way around it without hurting your feelings."

"I was probably too dumb to have my feelings hurt," she pointed out, and hopefully he didn't mind her leaning against him because she could. "You weren't taking advantage, though."

Clint didn't mind her leaning against him, and slipped his arm around her to try to encourage it. "I'll try to remember that the next time you go all Stepford on me," he teased. "I'm glad you're okay now though. I really do like it when you have opinions."

"Me, too," she said, feeling a ton more comfortable like this. "I think Fandom owes us a break for a while."

"I agree," Clint said quickly. "I could do with about a month of peace. Is that too much to ask?"

"Apparently! I think this place is trying to keep us on our toes," Kitty said. "I don't think I can get any more on my toes."

"You should stay off your toes for a while," Clint said, managing to keep from leering inappropriately. "I bet I could help."

"Oh? And how would you do that?" She totally knew.

Clint replied by leaning in for a kiss, because hey, she was back to being smart, so she totally knew how.

Kitty took her time in kissing him back, because it'd been days, okay, and she was allowed. But she couldn't help but tease, "Oh, I see how it is. Now that I'm in color and not housewifey and not too dumb to live you like me again."

Clint laughed, and if he kissed Kitty a little harder, well, she was asking for it. "Yes, that's exactly it," he said. "I like you for your brain and you're just going to have to deal with it."

And that was why Clint was a keeper. She turned her body more towards him for a better kissing angle, sighing exaggeratedly, "I guess I can deal with that..."
