25 Unicorn Street- Wednesday morning

Kitty had been exhausted through work last night, then came home and went right to bed, and she really had no intention of doing anything this morning except sleeping. And when she found herself starting to wake up far earlier than she actually wanted to, she snuggled closer to Clint and stubbornly draped an arm around him like that was going to make the waking up stop.

Was that going to work? No, probably not.

"All right, so," she said, looking at him, "this is going to sound completely insane, but you're my aged-down husband. Who I married while we were both sober." Jeez, Clint. "And this would be your daughter."

Clint just blinked at her for a moment before laughing. “You’re right, that does sound crazy. Are you on some kind of drugs, because that’s really not my thing.”

"I'm not even on coffee," Kitty said. "There are wedding pictures, if you want. You grow up hot."

There was that, at least.

Clint snickered at that, because it took a moment for the full meaning of that last comment to sink in. “Hey, I’m hot now,” he said. “And you can’t possibly be telling the truth ‘cause... I don’t know, that’s just insane. If you don’t want to be a single mom or whatever, that’s fine but I couldn’t have... I don’t even know your name.”

He usually felt bad about having to admit that, but this was proof that she was crazy this time!

"Kitty," she said, and turned to get and unplug her phone from the charger, then pulled up her pictures. "Scroll."

Clint scrolled through the pictures, his eyes getting wider with each one, and he couldn’t hold back the swearing this time, sorry unborn baby. “This is insane. This can’t be real. Maybe I’m dreaming,” he said, pinching himself. “How could this even happen?”

"You're currently in a town where weird things happen," she said sympathetically. "It only lasts a few days, and then you'll be back wherever, and not needing to do things like pay child support."

Dear god, let this only last a few days.

Clint just stared at Kitty and her baby bump for another long moment, and handed her phone back to her with a sigh. "I should probably put pants on." This was so, so weird. "Are you sure you're not just messing with me for fun?"

"I have nowhere near that much time or energy," Kitty assured (?) him. "Yes, pants. Pants are good."
