Valentine’s Day was one of Kitty’s favorite holidays, and she’d say it was a good reminder to stop and really appreciate how lucky she was. In reality she thought that pretty much all the time anyway. Awww. It didn’t even matter that half the time it just meant saying in.

That’s what tonight was. There were new flowers in the house, there was pizza delivery, and there were two dogs who were just waiting for said pizza. “Okay,” Kitty said as she set the box on the coffee table and sat on the couch, “I know I just had a whole conversation about how heart-shaped things taste better, but a heart-shaped pizza also means less pizza.”

"I love that we both thought about how we can't feed candy pizza to the dogs," Clint said, laughing. "Our priorities are clearly on point, and this is another sign we each married the right person."

“Well, they are basically like our children, sort of, and we’re just making sure they’re taken care of and don’t need a vet,” Kitty pointed out, opening the box to let him take a piece.

"That's a good point," Clint said, happily taking a slice and taking a big bite to keep himself from immediately saying something dumb about children. Eventually, he said, "Speaking of kids, how are things going at the school?"

“Okay, if a little touch-and-go,” Kitty said with a frown. “A lot of people still in shock, trying to get back to normal. I already called Hank Pym, trying to set up something between us and Avengers Academy. Like a game for the kids or something when it warms up some. The kids should still get to be kids, you know?”

"Of course. I'm sure he'll say yes. I hope he will, at least. I know I'm probably biased, but I hope your Avengers and X-Men can still be friends." Sometimes, Clint was still amazed by how much optimism he could dredge up when he wanted to.

“I think that’s more likely than X-Men being friends with X-Men,” Kitty said wryly. “We’ll start where we can. I was neutral, so I can help there. And if not... well, at least mutants will still exist?”

There was one bright side to all of this.

"Lots more mutants. That really is exciting, even if I'm still stuck without cool powers," Clint teased. "I keep hoping exposure to you will make something happen, but no, I'm still normal."

“Sorry,” Kitty said. “You can always hope for gamma radiation?”

She paused. “Please don’t get gamma irradiated, I love you like this.”
