The last time Kitty dragged Derek shopping with her, it was because it was kind of fun to torment him, yadda yadda yadda. This time, she was dragging him along because he'd actually been good with fashion advice and she didn't have a Rachel anymore, so... she'd been recast as a surly werewolf with bad conversation skills. Sorry, Derek.

"Remember, I'm just looking for a work outfit," she said as they walked into the store. "So this should probably be less eyeroll-inducing than the costumes."

"Lie." He tossed another shirt at her. There, he was done with his contribution for this leg of the trip.

"It is not!" she lied again. "Why would you think I thought that, anyway?"

That was not a helpful sentence, Derek. "What about him?"

"Apparently lead you to think I'm having orgies while making him dogsit."

Kitty's mouth opened and closed a few times as she tried to come up with a defense for that.

"Well, you did let some naked guy wear your underwear," she said finally, because guess what, there was no defense.

"Because it was that or let him stay naked," Derek shot back. "He was different like me, not someone I was screwing."

"Oh. Well, that wasn't information that I had," she said. Not that there was anything wrong with what she'd thought, in her opinion. "Sorry."

Derek shrugged again. Because people always thought something stupid about him.

"It doesn't change anything, by the way," she said, just to put that out there.

"Good to know." On some level he might have actually meant that. "Are you going to actually try those on or just assume I didn't pick something terrible?"

Don't mind Kitty being grateful for that out. "Well, you didn't, but I will be right back," she said, turning for the dressing room.

Which she didn't intend to show off because that was Officially Weird, at least till she talked to Clint.

DEREK JUST HAD BALLIN' FASHION POWERS. ON TOP OF THE WEREWOLF POWERS. AND THE POOR DECISION MAKING POWERS.

And he would just wait here. Ignoring the looks he got for being a scruffy guy with a leather jacket in the middle of the women's section.

Kitty took her time, because she could and so far today had been confusing, but when she came back out she still had all the clothes. "You done good."

"I have a sister." AND HALE FASHION POWERS.

"I know people with sisters. Doesn't mean they have a clue, usually," Kitty pointed out. "These aren't exactly work clothes, but I'm getting 'em anyway."

There weren't many professions where you went for something less covered up and still called them 'work clothes.'

"What did you want for work clothes then?"

"Uh. Less covered up than this," she said, and see, now it was weird.

Derek rolled his eyes. "Lingerie section."

AND THEN CLINT'S JEALOUS BOYFRIEND SENSES WENT CRAZY.

"That is not going to improve this situation at all, you know," Kitty pointed out.

[justlurkinghere]

"That's between you two. I'm not interested."

[throughaphase]

"You were the one who brought it up."

See, Derek, you bring that kind of thing up after you let the girl think she's letting a gay guy help her in using lingerie as outerwear. After.

"Because I don't want another 'talk' about this." If it helped at all, he was so deeply traumatized that sex was not on his mind.

[throughaphase]

"Your timing could have used some work," Kitty sighed. "Okay. Onward."

Because if she wasn't going there, and he pretty clearly wasn't going there, and she didn't even know for a fact that Clint thought this and she'd be talking to him about it anyway, then she might as well get what she actually came here for. Like a grownup.

That's right. Make all the bad decisions with Derek.

Derek just shrugged again. "Pick the right size and we'll work from there."

Because it was totally normal to buy lingerie with girls. Perfectly normal. Erica would totally agree in the future.
