25 Unicorn Street- Tuesday morning

There'd been a couple days back home, which had involved a reunion with Kitty's formerly dead best friend, a lot of confusion over the story of how, a general uneasy feeling partially because of the story of how (no one should feel good about part of someone's soul getting stolen, let's put it that way), and an argument with Peter about all of it.

And now back at home with some time to process, Kitty said from the couch, "So that was weird."

[For the guy who gets to marry into all this!]

"You've gotta understand, when Illyana died, Peter spiraled pretty hard. She's the only family he has left. Her death ended up leading to his," she explained, leaning against him a little. "I think it might also make him a little tunnel-visioned."

"I guess if something happened to Barney, I'd be the same way," Clint said. "Maybe he's worried something's wrong too, but if it is... he could end up losing her twice."

[throughaphase]

"Yeah. And who knows, maybe I should just let him be happy about it," Kitty said. "Like, if there's a problem, it'll come out. But maybe I should let him just enjoy having her around."

She would probably regret this around the time Illyana was way too easily manipulating him because he was a sucker.

[so_hawkward]

"Maybe, for now. Or keep an eye on things and just don't tell him?" Clint suggested. "What he doesn't know won't hurt him."

[throughaphase]

"Don't jinx it," Kitty teased, bumping him with her shoulder. "I don't know. Maybe I'm overreacting. Maybe this is what happens when I expected we'd go right back to sleepovers and pillow fights and instead we have trauma and adult stuff."

[so_hawkward]

"If there's a pillow fight, I want to be there to witness it," Clint said immediately. "First, let her adjust back to being here and fully alive and all, and then pillow fight."

[throughaphase]

"I probably shouldn't have told you that," Kitty realized too late. "And I probably also shouldn't tell you that once we pillow fought so hard I phased through the floor."

Yeah, she was teasing on purpose but hey. Wasn't like she and Illyana had the straightest relationship ever.

Yeah, Clint was just going to need a moment, and then he'd be okay again, really. "Now I have a mental image going, and it's all your fault," he said, his eyes wide.

"I have no idea what you could mean," Kitty totally lied.
