25 Unicorn Street- Monday evening

Kitty had gotten back from New York today, and hadn't really wanted to do much of anything when she got back. So it wasn't till she'd hung around the house long enough to get just bored enough to clean up that she put the radio broadcasts from the last week on as background noise.

"Uh... honey?"

And cleaning was definitely done for now. "Okay, where are you hurt?"

What. It was a standard question in this house.

"I'm not hurt that much," Clint said quickly. "The weird aliens had laser guns and I just got a little grazed but I'm fine, I promise."

"You got shot with an alien laser gun?" Sue her, she would always assume he was playing his injuries down. "Let me see."

Clint sighed and pulled his shirt off, so there was some bonus encouragement for Kitty to keep asking questions. There were a handful of horizontal burn marks on his skin, but he'd certainly had worse injuries, as far as he was concerned. "See, nothing serious. It was just hard to get away from them yesterday, that's all."

"Ouch," Kitty said, wincing a little as she came closer to check him out for herself. "Is this it? And have you been taking care of these?"

"I... didn't practice as hard today?" So, that would be a "no" Kitty. "I'm fine, I swear. I didn't have my bow so I couldn't get into as much trouble as some of the others did."

See, he wasn't the worst! That had to count for something!

"Living in a town full of crazy hero types won't save you," Kitty told him, like she wasn't one of the crazy hero types herself. She wasn't mad, though, just worried. "Bathroom. Let's get these taken care of."

Clint sighed softly, looking guilty. "You're not going to believe me if I say I can take care of them on my own, are you?" he asked, already getting up.

"No, I'll believe you, but then I get to touch you all shirtless," Kitty said, because she had no shame.

"Oh." Clint broke into a grin. "Well I can't argue with that. I missed you a lot this week. I'm glad you weren't here though."

[throughaphase]

"I missed you too," she said, starting up towards the bathroom. "Even moreso retroactively, now that I know this stuff. What happened?"

Clint went into the bathroom and leaned against the counter with a sigh. "Aliens showed up and beamed some people up into a fake Fandom, the people down here did something with their computers and we all got cool superpowers, and then we beat the aliens up and came back. Basically." She didn't want to waste energy on details when she could be touching him shirtless, right?

"You got cool superpowers?" Kitty asked, going to get some of the supplies out.

"I was breathing fire for a while. It was pretty cool," Clint said, stretching a little for Kitty. "Also, I guess I pretty much invalidated the idea that I wasn't taken, huh?"

"I think the burns invalidated that," Kitty said, rubbing some cream into a mark. "Are you okay? Like, for real, not just trying to act tough for me?"

[so_hawkward]

"Really, I'm okay. Better now," Clint said, leaning into Kitty's touch. "It wasn't scary or anything. It was just weird. But I also kept my nose clean and just observed for a while. Some folks tried to fight at the start and disappeared for a while. But I swear, honestly, that didn't happen to me. It was just weird."

"What did they want with you guys?" she wondered, grabbing a bandage. "I'm sorry I wasn't here for the computer-fu."

[so_hawkward]

"I think they wanted to take over It was peaceful at first, and everything looked almost totally normal. But then people figured out it wasn't real and got pissed, and the alien guy got pissed too and it kind of went to hell," Clint said. "It says a lot about us, how good you are at first aid."

[throughaphase]

"If it makes you feel any better, I've got like ten years of experience in patching people up when I need to," Kitty said with a tiny smile, going back for the cream. "It might say more about us that we have the supplies..."

[so_hawkward]

"Hey, smart people always have first aid supplies on hand," Clint said. "I'm glad you weren't here, as much as I know you would have been able to help. At least you were safe. Safeish." She had been home, after all.

[throughaphase]

"I probably should have taken you with me," she said, sneaking in a quick kiss.

[so_hawkward]

"No, because then I would have just gotten into trouble in your world, and I'm still trying to maintain a good impression," Clint teased. "And then we would have missed out on this nice moment."

"Aha, now I see the real reason why you get banged up," Kitty teased.

[so_hawkward]

"Oh yeah, as I was making my escape, I was totally thinking about how I'd tell you everything and then make you patch me up," Clint said with just a hint of sarcasm.

[throughaphase]

"Aside from that part about voluntarily telling me everything, that sounds about right," she grinned, applying another bandage.

"I didn't want to worry you. It wasn't a big deal," Clint said. "I wasn't trying to be dishonest or anything."

[throughaphase]

"Oh, I know. And I'm not mad or anything," Kitty assured him. "But I much rather finding out these things from you as opposed to like, getting your shirt off under different circumstances and freaking out."

[so_hawkward]

"Okay, yeah, that would have been weird," Clint said, smiling softly. "I'll try to be better about admitting when I get hurt." Somehow, likely through a lot of practice.

"We've got time to work that out," Kitty smiled, reaching for the cream again.
