Salem Center, NY- Wednesday late afternoon

Clint had come with Kitty to Xavier's this week, and she was completely glad for that. Not only did she think it might do the kids some good to see that not all normal people hated them, but she missed him when she was here alone overnight every week. The first couple weeks she'd wondered if she was being all codependent about it, but then figured after two years that was instead probably the sign of a good relationship.

And since she had Clint here today, it meant that when Kitty was done with work stuff, they got to head to Salem Center for her second costume excursion of the week, this time for him. "So we're looking for sleeveless..." Kitty only half-teased.

"You're so lucky that Halloween in Fandom is generally not freezing," Clint said. He'd been more than happy to be a kind human at Xavier's, and it was cool to meet some of Kitty's students. Honestly, he didn't mind shopping with her, but he wasn't going to be obvious about that. "Do I get to be fully covered otherwise?"

"Given that guys' costumes cover way more than girls', probably," Kitty said, already looking through the racks. "You get final approval, remember."

"That's true, our options don't automatically have the word 'sexy' in front of them. It's a good thing I make every costume sexy just by wearing it." Oh Clint. "I know I get final approval, but it's final approval from the ones you pick out, right?"

"And if you see anything you like Im happy to review it," she grinned.

Clint laughed as he started looking through the costumes. "You know, it's not fair that you ladies get the skimpy costumes, but all the costumes for guys are dumb or silly. Who would wear some of these things?"

"People who are trying too hard?" Kitty said, frowning at a couple costumes. "I found a banana flasher costume the other day."

"That's not right. And speaking of not right," Clint said, pulling out a costume, "this isn't what you mean by sleeveless, right?"

"God no," Kitty said with wide eyes. "Though if you did it I think people would still be looking at your arms instead of the costume."

"I think you overestimate the power of my arms," Clint said, poking through the racks more. "There's a lot of uniforms, but that's like my work wear."

Did Kitty ever perk up fast at that. "What kinds of uniforms?"

"Like this one," Clint said, pulling one out to show her, oblivious to how perked up she was. "Does that seem kind of boring?"

"A little but arms. Try it on anyway," she said, pretty much immediately, because she was totally allowed to be shallow. "I mean, this covers everything but it's still kinda great."

Kitty probably had the meta for Top Gun memorized when she was younger.

"Oh no, we can't have that," Clint said, laughing as he took the costume he'd found and went over to the dressing room, closing the door behind him. "You don't have your phone, do you?"

"I always have my phone. Should I be prepping the camera?" Kitty asked, pulling her phone out anyway.

"No, no you should not," Clint said. "These pants are a little too tight, I think."

Clint, no, that was not helping.

"No such thiiiing," she sing-songed. This really did have the potential to be her favorite day ever.

"You said arms. You didn't say anything about my backside," Clint said as he peeked out of the dressing room. "You won't send anyone the pictures you're totally not going to take, right?"

[throughaphase]

"Only if they pick up my phone and see my inevitable new lock screen," Kitty said.

For some reason this trip was putting her in a great mood, who knew!

"I don't know if this is lock screen material," Clint said, tugging a little on the vest as he came out. The costume was tight all over, but definitely not in a bad way, except as far as Clint was concerned.

Kitty stared for a moment, then totally took the picture when she reminded herself to do so.

"Okay," she said finally, "our chances of getting arrested here just went way up."

"Why?" Clint asked, before really taking in the look Kitty was giving him. "Oh, I see. Do you think my Avengers ID would work as a get out of jail card? I think it might."

"Literally no jail can hold me. And by proxy, you," she pointed out.

"That's even better, although being a fugitive might make being at Xavier's more difficult," Clint said, getting closer to Kitty. "So, you like this one, I assume?"

[throughaphase]

"...Possibly not much more difficult." Wolverine killed soooo many people. "This is my Viking costume."

"Oh, so this is just for you and me. I wonder if this thing comes with handcuffs," Clint said idly.

[throughaphase]

"Yes, this is definitely for you and me." Unless he wanted to spend Halloween with her attached to him all night, anyway. "Though I hear the costume handcuffs don't really hold up..."

"Oh you've heard that? As in, that's a conversation you've had?" Clint asked, grinning. "I like the sound of that."

"It maybe came up on my previous shopping trip," Kitty said, stepping closer. "And I maybe took it to heart."

Clint stood up a little straighter, trying to hide any kind of effect that Kitty getting closer was having on him. "Well, I would hate for that kind of research to go to waste. And you deserve the best," he said, "so that means having the real thing."

"Even when it comes to handcuffs," she laughed, sliding her arms around his waist because she could.

[so_hawkward]

"Even when it comes to handcuffs. It makes up for using them with me," Clint said, slipping his arms around Kitty in return.

"I already have the best in you." Awwww.
