After the whole mess with Venom- and really? They had to deal with Venom now?- and getting that settled, Kitty went to Clint's, because there was no one to bitch to at her apartment and all she was going to do there was get mad there anyway.

True, she'd probably just get mad here too but at least she'd have eye candy. Sorry for the objectification, Clint.

She poked her head in through the front door and groused, "I've had a day."

And she thought he'd better be there. She'd be pissed if she just talked to an empty room.

Hey, Clint didn't mind being eye candy at all. Even on a normal day, he wouldn't mind, but he was in an amazing mood now, so he minded even less. "I'm going to assume you mean a bad day, and not a day in general," he said, giving her a sympathetic look. "What's wrong? Come on in."

"I just got to deal with Venom," she said, stepping through the door and expecting outrage.

Like he had any idea who that was where he came from.

"That... doesn't sound like fun?" Clint said because no, he didn't, or he probably wouldn't have hired the guy, oops. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. This is just not what I wanted to do with my day," she crabbed, and walked over to flop on the sofa because that was dramatic. "And it's probably going to happen again, and that's just great."

She was being totally rational, really.

"Well, maybe it won't happen today. And when it does, you'll be ready," Clint said helpfully, sitting down beside her. "I bet you drove whatever Venom is crazy with your phasing, huh?"

"He said he'd find a way to turn me solid and crack my skull." Normally a threat like that was sort of something she'd brag about. "I mean, who does that?"

Normally, hearing that would make Clint just as angry as Kitty - no one got to threaten his girlfriend, even if they couldn't follow through with it - but today it didn't seem to faze him at all. "Mean people who know you're more awesome than they are," he said, slipping his arm around her shoulders.

"Can you please be mad?" she sighed.

This might be the only time she'll ever ask that question.

"I..." Clint started, before realizing that no, he really wasn't that mad. Trying to fake it, he said, "Uh, that guy's a jerk and if he ever threatens you again, he's going to get an arrow somewhere very uncomfortable?"

"That's not the part you should be mad about!"

Also, "And also you're not actually mad!"

"What's the part I should be mad about? Threatening you is just about the most awful thing possible." Clint said. "And I am mad, just... uh, on the inside."

"People threaten me all the time, it's not even a thing anymore," Kitty pointed out, and that part was at least true on a normal day. "There's a supervillain alien symbiote out there, and he got loose, and that's what you should be mad about!"

"Oh. You're right, that doesn't sound good," Clint said, shaking his head for a moment before smiling. "But it's nothing we can't deal with. And you're here, safe, with me, and that's what matters most right now."

"And that he didn't kill anybody. That I know of," Kitty complained, folding her arms across her chest.

[so_hawkward]

"I bet he didn't. I bet you stopped him," Clint said. "Clearly, you're a hero, and we should celebrate that."

[throughaphase]

"I'm not really in a celebrating mood." Apparently angry!Kitty had become sulky!Kitty.

"Are you sure?" Clint asked, kissing her cheek, which turned into kissing her neck. "I think it was awesome of you to try to take on Venom. I know I'm certainly impressed by you."

[throughaphase]

"This is so not the time, Clint," she complained, and she'd be a lot madder about this except that kind of felt pretty good so she maybe tilted her head a little to give him room. "You'd better be impressed."

"I'm always impressed by you," he said, eagerly going in once she tilted her head. "This is how you helped my bad mood, remember?"

Kitty would be mad about how much she was appreciating what he was doing, but it felt nice, so. And the little noise she made might have said as much.

"That was different." Actually it was the same thing only reversed.

"It was different because it was you kissing me until I stopped pouting, but the idea is totally the same," Clint said. "I'm going to keep going and you're going to keep making those good noises and then we're both going to be in a good mood."

"Don't tell me what to do," she said, turning a little so she could get her hand under his shirt.

That got Clint to perk up even more. "Do you want to tell me what to do? 'Cause I can totally go for that," he said, leaning back to give her plenty of room to get under his shirt.

Kitty paused, scratching her nails lightly against his side and saying, "Yes. Yes I do."

Clint grinned at her. Normally, that'd be hot, but it was especially hot today. "Okay. What do you want me to do?" he asked.
