25 Unicorn Street- Thursday morning

After kinda dying for a minute or two, Kitty thought maybe she'd overreacted a bit on radio. Hey, she had one dead ex and half the people she'd ever known had at least faked their deaths so she was allowed to freak out a little.

Once she'd taken care of that big monster thing and anything else on her way that needed taking care of, she actually did make it to Clint's house, where she stuck her head through the door- literally, of course. "Clint?"

"I'm here," Clint called back, 'here' meaning at the kitchen table organizing his arrows.

Somebody might have been a little angrier than usual at Handsome Jack's tone from this morning.

Kitty walked into the house, following the sound of his voice. "Don't you look prepared."

Good. She'd soooo much rather he was.

"And alive. Completely alive, that's important," he said, giving her an innocent look. "I swear, it wasn't my fault." Except for how he'd run straight at the monster but shhh details.

"You're getting hugged anyway," she said. Really, he should have seen that coming.

Yeah, Clint knew that was coming, and he shifted in his chair to make the hug easier. "It's getting kind of bad out there but I'm not sure where to start to fix it. I hate that."

"Get out there, do what you can, get a posse to track down the jerk in charge," she said, staying in the hug maybe a moment of two longer than necessary.

"Will you be part of my posse? Or will you help me keep the kids from trying to make a posse?" Clint asked, hugging her back.

"I'm up for either. But I'd prefer to maybe break that guy's face a little," Kitty said honestly. "Or a lot, whatever."

Clint perked up at that thought. "Can I watch? I've been really good this year."

[throughaphase]

"Of course. I might even leave some for you," Kitty grinned.

[so_hawkward]

"Ooh, tag teaming a bad guy is a great date idea," Clint said. "I'm liking this plan more and more."

[throughaphase]

"Yeah, today's improving a little," she decided. "So how are you doing?"

She was totally fine with herself dying which is good because canon, but she didn't know how others handled it.

Clint shrugged. "Okay, I guess." After a moment he added, "Wait, you mean post-dying? It wasn't that bad, I promise. I mean, it wasn't fun but I'm not like, scarred or anything."

Was he supposed to be more upset? He wasn't sure.

"Good," she said, because she'd been a little worried about that. "...Was it just the once?"

She knew you, Clint.

[so_hawkward]

"Yes?" Clint said uncertainly, maintaining his charming smile for a few long moments before sighing. "Okay, no. I might have made it to three times before giving up."

For the evening, at least. Today was a whole new day!

Kitty wished she could say she was surprised. "Who do you think you are, an X-Man?"

"If I was, I might not need a smart-mouthed machine to bring me back each time, and steal my money in the process." Yeah, don't think he hadn't noticed that, Hyperion.

"...Seriously?" she asked, immediately going to check her pockets.

[so_hawkward]

"Yeah, it takes a little bit every time," Clint said, sounding annoyed. "I don't know exactly where it's going, but I can take a guess."

[throughaphase]

"Fine, I'll stay phased when I'm out," Kitty said with a sigh. "Yet another reason we need to die less."

[so_hawkward]

...yeah, Clint had finally caught up to a certain part of this conversation. "Wait, we? What did you do?"

"...I mean, I got better," Kitty said sheepishly. "There was a monster thing."

[so_hawkward]

"Was it one of the big ones? I freaking hate those things," Clint said. "Are you okay?"

[throughaphase]

"Yeah, I'm fine. I made sure to take care of it before I came here so no one else would run into it," Kitty said. "I'm not planning on repeating the dying thing."

[so_hawkward]

"Me neither. I mean, it's probably gonna happen, but I'm not planning on it." That made it better, right?

[throughaphase]

"Clint."

The temporary thing didn't make it better!

[so_hawkward]

"What? If it's not sticking then the only trouble is running back from wherever you end up," Clint said.

[throughaphase]

"That doesn't mean I like you dying." It was different when it was her doing it!

[so_hawkward]

"I don't like you dying either, but if you're okay in the end... okay, I guess it's still unpleasant to think about," Clint admitted.

[throughaphase]

"This is going to end in me sleeping here till this is over," she warned. Because she had just enough past trauma to want to be sure he came home at night.

"Am I supposed to say no to that? 'Cause I don't think I can," Clint said with a smirk. "You can help me make sure everything's still in working order."

Yes, that came complete with a wink, because Clint was entirely that cheesy.

"Oh, you're definitely not allowed to die if that's a risk," Kitty teased.

[so_hawkward]

"Hey, who knows how perfect that technology is? I could probably use someone smart checking me out." It was completely logical and not at all sexy.

[throughaphase]

"You're incorrigible," she said, not sounding at all like she minded. Since she didn't, and all.

[so_hawkward]

"Yeah, but you love that about me, don't lie," Clint said, laughing. "I feel better now about things, thank you."

[throughaphase]

"About all your parts working? We haven't even tested that yet," Kitty pointed out.

[so_hawkward]

"Do you want to?" Yes, yes he was exactly that easy.

[throughaphase]

"Is it bad if I say yes when there are monsters outside?"

They'd have plenty of days to kill monsters. It wasn't that bad to say yes.

"Nah, I think the town will survive without us for a little while."

Or a long while, if he was lucky.

[throughaphase]

"Okay," Kitty said slowly. "Sex, then fighting bad guys, then more sex later. Best plan ever."

Oh, look, a reason for everyone to get back alive at the end of the night!

"Oh hey, I like that last part a lot," Clint said, getting up and slipping an arm around Kitty. "I'll have to be extra careful."

"Yes you will," she nodded, sliding her arms around his neck. "And you should really like the first part, too."

"Oh, oh I do," Clint said, giving her a kiss to prove it. "I like it very much."
