throughaphase: (what's over here?)

25 Unicorn Street- early Monday morning

It took Kitty a moment after waking up to realize that she was the right age, that she was still sort of mad about Stiles' Cubs comments, and that she was sleeping on Clint's couch. She hadn't known where she was supposed to live when she was six, so he'd been nice enough to let her stay here. She got up and went to check the time since she had a pretty early class to get to, then decided that she had enough time to clean up a little and make sure that at least dirty dishes were put in the sink or whatever. That was when she saw the certificate she'd made Lucky to tell him he was the best dog ever. Then she found some kind of tape to make sure she could put it on the wall where Lucky could see it, even if he couldn't read it.

And since she was in a relatively good mood due to being all twenty again, she got another piece of paper, and a couple minutes later headed upstairs to Clint's room. She tried to be as quiet as possible, even phasing through the door, trying not to wake him up (if he was sleeping) as she attached something to the wall above the bed.

What. It was that kind of weekend.

It was a sign that being tiny really took a lot out of Clint that he didn't wake up when Kitty came in. A few minutes later, he poked his head out of the covers, hair askew, and sighed. He hadn't embarrassed himself as much this weekend as the last time he'd been a kid, and the fact that Kitty had been little too helped. Still, he felt weird right up until he saw the certificate. It was kind of hard to feel bad at all after that.

"Kitty?" he called loudly. It was that or actually get out of the bed to see if she was still here and... yeah, that wasn't going to happen yet.

"Morning," he said, smiling at her. "I didn't know boyfriending was a field. How are you doing this morning?"

"Now that I'm the right age I'm capable of reading," Clint said with a laugh. "I'm sorry you were stuck here for the weekend."

"Yet again, it's girls who have the cooties, not boys," Clint said solemnly, reaching to put his hand on Kitty's leg. "That's how you manage to catch and ensnare us."

"I think that's a likely explanation," Clint said. "I did fall for you pretty hard. That could be an infection. A good one, but still."

"I'm kind of okay with that," Clint said with a smirk. "Do you want breakfast? Now you know I can cook a mean bowl of cereal." And hey, Lucky probably needed some actual dog food too while he was at it.

"Pancakes or something that involved actual cooking would be domestic," Clint said, getting out of bed with much less reluctance than he had a few minutes ago. "I bet your students will be sad they couldn't all stay tiny and just color or something in class."

"I feel you. I always worried I was going to turn off the safety features or something and someone was going to lose a limb," Clint said, leading the way downstairs. When he got to the kitchen, he stopped when he saw the certificate for Lucky. "You are such a dork," he said fondly.

Clint's eyes lit up and he grinned at Kitty. "We could. He's certainly smart enough," he said. "And then he'd know how much he's cared about and all that."

"He does deserve a lot of praise, especially for putting up with us this weekend," Clint said, "and our incessant need to pet him."

Clint shrugged as he got out cereal and two bowls this time, and also set the coffee maker to warm up. That was definitely a step he'd missed as a kid. "Okay, I guess. I mean, I didn't do anything terrible or embarrassing this weekend, so it could be a lot worse."

"It was kind of fun being little," Clint said, doling out cereal for the both of them. "It's always a little weird looking back though and remembering. I knew so much less about how the world worked then."

"Yeah, I guess I do have to forgive myself for being young," Clint said, his eyes going a little wide. "Oh man, I really hope I didn't accidentally call Barney and forget about it."

[personal profile] so_hawkward 2013-11-19 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not completely. I mean, I could ask," Clint said, "but there's no way to explain why the weekend's a little hazy that's good."

"Right, 'cause he's totally going to believe someone trusted me with their kids," Clint said, snorting. "Maybe I'll wait and see if he says anything to me first. That's kind of the Barton way."

"Lexi was different, she was half mine," Clint pointed out, before wondering if he'd said something bad. "What do you need to remember?"

"Well, that's because I'm awesome," Clint said with a hopeful smirk. "But, uh, yeah, you probably will be 'cause I'm not going to... it's weird to complain when it could just make things worse, you know?"

"I just don't think about them? But I also don't get bothered by a lot," Clint added quickly, offering Kitty one of the bowls as a distraction.

"It is a little weird, but I won't complain if you won't," Clint offered.
