MHA #10- Wednesday evening

As promised, Kitty was putting the cooking skills she'd learned in Italy to use. What she was learning now was that it was a lot more difficult when you were on your own and didn't have anyone telling you what you were doing wrong. But nothing had blown up and everything looked okay so far and she even only had a little bit of flour on her face so it was looking pretty successful.

And okay, the kitchen was a total mess but she didn't think Clint would mind too much. She was still going to try to make the place look at least half decent before he got here, though.

Okay, maybe a quarter decent.

"You say that like I've never just skipped a glass and gone straight into the bottle," Clint said, laughing. He still went to the cabinet and got glasses out for them though, along with a pair of plates.

"Or skipped the mug and gone straight into the coffee pot..." She would forever tease about that.

"Hey, I don't like to waste mugs," Clint protested. "I'm being environmental."

"But then you still have to wash the coffee pot," Kitty said, taking one of the plates to scoop some of the pasta onto it. "So, aside from being environmental, what've you been up to?"

"It's better than washing a pot and a mug," Clint said. "I haven't been doing much of anything, really. Vaguely unpacking from the trip, a few pieces of clothes at a time."

[throughaphase]

"I've had to work and deal with X-Men stuff," she said, getting both plates ready and pouring on some sauce. "Wanna trade? I'd rather be that relaxed."

Clint snickered. "I don't think the X-Men would want to deal with me. No offense. What have you had to deal with?"

[throughaphase]

"Nothing official," she said quickly, going to a junk drawer to grab a multitool with a handy corkscrew on it. She had some work to do on this adult thing. "I guess Rogue got a house? So she invited everyone to New Orleans next weekend. Kurt's trying to get me to show up."

[so_hawkward]

"Aww, New Orleans is fun," Clint said, grabbing some utensils for them both, because even he drew the line at eating pasta with his hands. "When are you going to leave?"

[throughaphase]

"Friday night or Saturday morning, back by Monday?" she said, realizing that multitool corkscrews sucked. So she gave up and just phased the cork out of the bottle. "You think I should go?"

She was still going up and back on it, but she really was interested in his opinion.

"Well, why not? If your friends want you to be there..." Clint trailed off with a shrug. "You're not going to miss anything exciting here, most likely."

Kitty paused, considering it. "I mean, Logan did say he'd keep the others from trying to talk me into coming back," she said. And that was a very real concern for her. "So... would you want to go with me, by chance?"

That question caught Clint so off guard that he actually had to stop for a second. "You'd want me there? With your friends and everything?" he asked.

"Of course. I always want you anywhere," Kitty said.

Well now, that wasn't something Clint heard often. "Then of course I'll go with you," he said with a smile. "You know I'm on the side of you not going back to being an X-person yet."

[throughaphase]

"Good, because trust me, I'm on the side of me not going back to being an X-person ever," she said, even if it seemed like it was going to happen eventually. "Plus you get to meet the family."

[so_hawkward]

She probably didn't mean to make Clint nervous saying that, but Clint was now officially nervous. "Do they all know the other version of me who's kind of a jerk?"

[throughaphase]

"I think most of them have at least met you. Him," she corrected. "Why do you think he's a jerk?"

[so_hawkward]

"Logan made it sound like he's not very good with people and--okay, I'm not so great with people sometimes too, but I haven't hurt you yet, right?" Clint asked.

[throughaphase]

"Nope," Kitty confirmed. And she didn't think he would, either. "I don't remember anyone coming home and complaining about you, if it helps. And by now I think everyone's pretty used to differentiating between people from different universes." Oh, X-Men. "I'm not worried."

[so_hawkward]

"Well, okay. Then yeah, I'll come with you. It'll be nice to meet more of your friends," Clint said, pouring some wine for the both of them. "And get embarrassing stories from them, of course."

[throughaphase]

"No one has any embarrassing stories about me," she said quickly.

This was a lie. Clint was guaranteed to get a copy of the picture of her in the horrible 80's roller skates costume she made herself. Guaranteed.

[so_hawkward]

"Did you believe that when I said it? Because I don't think I believe that," Clint said, laughing.

[throughaphase]

"It's different, though," she said, but she was smiling a little. "They've known me since I was thirteen. And everyone's an idiot when they're thirteen."

The X-Men would not care about that. Like at all.

[so_hawkward]

"Awwww, I bet you were an adorable idiot," Clint said. "Hey, maybe someday I'll even get to see it." If Fandom was kind to him and all.

[throughaphase]

"Oh god, this is gonna be revenge for me seeing you younger," Kitty said, taking her glass of wine. "Just... still love me when you find out I was a mouthy, adorable idiot." With terrible fashion sense.

[so_hawkward]

"Right, 'cause I totally wasn't a mouthy jackass when puberty hit." Yes, he was using past tense for that, so there.

[throughaphase]

"Kurt says my very first day at the mansion, I strolled in and announced 'I'm here!' like I owned the place. I don't remember that," Kitty said. "I'm just glad the Professor won't be there to tell the really bad stories."

If Xavier was there, Kitty would probably not be going.

"So I need to email him or something later, got it." Clint took his own glass and one of the plates, and went to sit down. "Or would that be mean?"

"It'd be awkward," she said, taking her own plate to follow him. "If you're gonna get blackmail, go to Logan or Ororo. Or Kurt. I've always worked with him so he's got all the stories where I look good too."
