MHA #10- Sunday evening

Since Thursday Kitty had 1. found out a past version of her had died here, 2. found out that her sex life was all over the internet, 3. had her powers go wonky again, 4. had her bar turned into a strip club, 5. saw Derek strip which was fine but also really weird, 6. dealt with Stiles being possessed, 7. gotten stabbed, 8. gotten hit on or something by her boyfriend's roommate, and 9. according to radio it looked like she'd gotten cheated on. Oh, and 10. now she had to find a new gym.

So Sunday had Kitty basically saying fuck this weekend, she was not leaving her apartment for any other horrible things to happen. And so the first part of her day was spent alternating eating ice cream, trying to watch Meg Ryan movies from her sofa in a position that didn't aggravate the gaping wound in her side, and if any squirrels said there'd been any tears today they were damn liars.

And then just like that, the pain in her side was gone. After a couple minutes she finally got up to go into the bathroom to take off the bandage and see that yes, it was totally healed, and then she went directly back to the couch (through the wall, thank god) to flop more comfortably on it.

"Do what quick?" Clint said, sticking his hands in his pockets, making himself a little smaller. Of course she was mad, she had every right to be, and if there was going to be yelling, he didn't want it to be here. "Can I at least come in?"

Kitty paused, because if this was going to be a drawn-out, painful thing, she'd prefer being able to close a door and get away from it when she couldn't take anymore. This way, she'd have to drop through a floor or something and she'd much rather keep at least some of her dignity here. If she could get through this like a mature person at fourteen, she'd definitely want to be able to do it at twenty.

But he also wasn't stonewalling her, and so she'd give him that much, and stepped aside to let him in.

"So what did you want to say?" she said, trying again to sound better than she felt.

Did she have to sound so upset? Of course she did, because he was an idiot. "I'm gonna assume you heard about what I did yesterday," he said. "Kitty, I'm sorry. I don't know what the hell happened."

[throughaphase]

"Seems like almost everyone was off this weekend," Kitty said, honestly a little thrown by things like him copping to it, and the word 'sorry.'

Look, Peter had been THE WORST BREAKUP EVER, okay.

"So what now?" She felt she had to ask that, since she wasn't entirely sure where he was going with this now.

[so_hawkward]

"Now... I do whatever you want and grovel for forgiveness?" Clint suggested. "Assuming you want to forgive me, I mean. Or you can throw things at me, 'cause past experience says that's helpful."

[throughaphase]

Cue the frowning.

"You're not here to break up with me?"

[so_hawkward]

"What? Why would I--wait, you don't think I like Bruce now, do you?" Clint said, looking a little horrified. "No no no, I like women, and boobs, and ladybits, and your ladybits in particular and I mean Bruce is a nice guy but no, no, that's not..."

Well, that pit in her stomach didn't seem to be there anymore. That was good.

"Oh. Good," she said, and paused. "I don't know what to do here, I didn't think this was going to end well."

[so_hawkward]

"Why would I break up with you?" Clint asked again. "I'm the one who cheated. Did you think I'd be mad at you about that for some reason?"

[throughaphase]

Kitty shrugged. "Well, the first time I ever got cheated on, he was apparently magicked into it. And then when everything was all over he decided he still didn't love me anymore, so."

And then she ran off and got brainwashed and when she came back she had to do absolutely all the work in repairing the relationship. It really should be no wonder that she had issues with this subject.

"I still love you. I love you a lot." That seemed important to say first. "I'm so sorry, Kitty. I didn't mean for this to happen, and I don't want to break up if you don't want to."

That helped. That helped a lot, and if Kitty had to blink really hard a few times, it was because it was a relief to hear, especially when she usually had to say it first.

"I love you, too. And I don't want to break up," she told him, finally dropping her arms. "And don't get me wrong, I'm pissed, and this hurts, but it looks like the whole town was insane."

"Very insane. I didn't--I still don't know what came over me," Clint said. "And I know that's not an excuse and it's sure as hell not an excuse for me because not being in my own mind doesn't change what I did." Yet again. Sigh. "I'm sorry I wasn't there when you got hurt."

Kitty actually felt kind of bad that she'd assumed he wouldn't take responsibility for this sort of thing. That seemed a lot clearer in the post-breakup fear panic. And she was really starting to think about what it had to be like on his end.

"It's okay," she said, going over to slide her arms around him. "It wasn't that bad. And Natasha was there. Weird, but there."

"It sounded weird. What happened?" Clint asked, gladly sliding his arms around her too.

[throughaphase]

That felt more normal. "There were some astronauts and cavemen arguing over who's better, I guess. I got hit with a spear, Natasha offered to nurse me back to health... Seriously, whole town, insane."

[so_hawkward]

"Natasha... really?" Clint said, with a bit of a smirk.

Look, he was back to liking the ladies, and some mental images could just not be stopped.

Kitty lightly pinched his side, but it was mostly playful. "I was bleeding all over. Not sexy. Also I may have to avoid your house for a while."

[so_hawkward]

"You and Natasha are automatically sexy, no matter what. I have eyes, trust me on this," Clint said. "And that's fine. I'll just have to come over here then, if you want me to."

[throughaphase]

"I haven't turned you down yet," she said, and turned more serious. "Though, um. I have to ask. Did anything happen at your place?"

Because if it had, it was going to be a very long time before she could be over there and not feel weird. But asking definitely beat wondering.

"No, we were at Bruce's place. Hopefully, none of his housemates were paying attention," Clint said with a sigh.

[throughaphase]

"Not going to think about that," Kitty said quickly, because nope. "But good." At least that was another relief.

[so_hawkward]

"Can I...?" Clint said, leaning closer with the intent to kiss her. "I showered and everything, I'm all nice and clean."

[throughaphase]

"Yeah, you can," Kitty said, quietly, leaning up to kiss him.

And dammit, she was going to make it good. Because someone was going to be nice and possessive for a while and also Bruce who?

Yeah, Bruce had nothing on Kitty when it came to kissing, and Clint tried to give back as good as he was getting. He was feeling really grateful, and he wanted that to be clear.
