The Park, Friday Evening

Henry had been halfway up the hill back to Pirkstein, his attention caught by a flash of yellow up by the gates - and then, abruptly, with a shout of "Henry!" still in his ears, he no longer was.

Instead he was standing in the middle of the park again, Pebbles by his side, the sunlight cut away to darker skies. He blinked, and then he sighed, deflating somehow, as if he hadn't been expecting this--

And then a loud barking cut straight through his maudlin thoughts.

"Mutt!" he said, surprised, staring at the brown-and-white dog as he sped past Henry and towards the sleeping flamingos. "...Mutt! Get back here! Don't scare the bloody--"

Welcome home, Henry.

Rey's warehouse- Friday afternoon

Once Rey figured out the trick to the popups that had been a thorn in her side for months, they were actually sort of fun? All the time she'd been worrying about the objects themselves was a waste of time when she should have been worrying about the space around the objects. That moved. That she could predict.

She'd started dreading running the course, but she was going at it pretty hard today. She wasn't doing anything to show off yet, but at this point not getting knocked on her ass felt like showing off.

Needful Things; Friday

Harley shoved her sunglasses up to her forehead. "Wait, I missed it?"

Bruce, sniffing around the door, offered no answer.

"How do you miss New Year's Eve?!"

No, not to that, either.

But the narrative would wager a guess that the answer would've had something to do with a very complicated string of events that boiled down to running into some gal who knew a guy, who knew another guy, and then completely losing track of time in Atlantic City for several days.

However, the facts were that Harley was home now, as of about five minutes ago, and the store was technically open.

"Geez," she huffed, to Bruce, but really mostly just herself. "Turn your back for two seconds and the world sneaks all kindsa stuff right on past ya."

Pribyslavitz and Rattay, Henry's Bohemia, Thursday Fandom Time

Timmy’s instructions had not been particularly detailed. Henry had gone looking for the bandit camp early in the morning, and yet by noon he was hopelessly lost, Pebbles’ hooves clomping precariously through the deep wood. It was full of ruined cabins, leftover pieces of people’s lives - something horrible had happened here, and it had happened some time ago. No one had bothered to come pick up the pieces.

(Henry warded himself off from any comparisons to himself, thank you. Sir Radzig had given him a task, and while he hardly felt up to it, he would do his best.)

In the end, finding the camp was pure dumb luck. Pebbles had gotten herself stuck in a stream, and Henry had slid off of her to try and figure out how to get her out again. There were two more half-ruined cabins at the edge of the river, and he’d climbed up– only to see a Cuman clomping by in full armor just a few steps away.

In which there are bandits, battle, trauma, and Henry gets friendzoned in the worst way. )

The Perk, Thursday morning

Right. Continue as you meant to go on. Jon had spent much of the last few weeks holed up in his flat, cuddling Issa (who was about fed up with it now) and feeling sorry for himself for spending the holidays alone. That was enough of that.

Last night he'd made it to the party and actually talked to people, and today he was up early, dressed, laundry and cleaning done, and at the Perk.

And eyeing the drink the barista had given him a little skeptically. "Are you sure - I mean, I don't usually drink coffee if I can help it..."

"Pretty sure this barely counts as coffee. Just try it."

He did, albeit tentatively, and frowned. "I don't even taste any coffee."

She gave him a thumbs up and went to make the next person's drink.

Jon shrugged and sat down with his very much not tea (and not appreciably coffee, either) and a book.

WTFH - Fandom Radio [Thurs, Jan 1st]

In news that I'm sure will surprise no one, there are a lot of hungover squirrels in the station this morning. So let's see what happened yesterday.

*loud slamming of paper*

*chittering groans*

Nothing much happened at the School or in the Dorms, sounds about right. Over in Town, Gladio was doing new year prep at Atlas Gym, while Nell liked to watch.

Kitty was in charge of the New Year's Eve party at Caritas, and my notes have a...vigorous discussion about just how many lights there were, so I'm going to go with many. There was a little stage action from Gregorith, but most people were in the back room where the party proper was going on. Except Tino. But he doesn't count as people. In attendance were Kitty, obviously, as well as Clint, Rey and Adrian, Vi and Steph, Gregorith, Summer, Stark, Jaina, Liliana and Ignis, and Jon. And I assume they all got drenched with glitter at midnight, because that's how this island works.

Fandom Radio, Wednesday 12/31

Good morning, it’s Wednesday, and it’s the last day of the year as this place measures that sort of thing. Perhaps I’ll see some of you at the party tonight. I hope so. For now let’s read the notes from yesterday. There aren’t many.

Nothing from the school once more because it’s still break. Classes start again next week, I think? And nothing from the dorms but the porg seems distracted by his new top hat and not too sad about it. That’s good.

That means all I have are notes from the town and they are quite short.

Yesterday evening, Kitty was at Caritas getting things ready for today. Tonight, really. Unclear if Tino ever did remove at least some of the lights from the mechanical bull but I suppose we’ll find out tonight.

Earlier in the day Ignis was at Luke’s supervising a thorough cleaning of the place and set up the day’s specials. Of course, Liliana came to visit him. Of course.

And that is all I have. Enjoy the end of your year, everyone.

Atlas Gym; Wednesday [12/31].

It was that time of year again, when Atlas seemed to make the most business, in the form of an influx of gym memberships out of absolutely no where from people who didn't even live on the island that he was likely to never see after January, although sometimes even mid-February. These Resolutioners found their way to Atlas in the hope of making the new year a much healthier and devoted one and eventually petered out of the habit, and Gladio didn't question it, but he did think it was a sort of fascinating phenomenon.

But of course he wanted to try to encourage as many people as possible to stick with it if he could, so today was all about making sure everything was ready to go and in good shape (heh) moving ahead, armed with a clipboard and a checklist, checking up on the equipment, on the stock of towels and cleaning supplies and stickers and Cup NoodleTM, going over some class offerings with the staff, and overall just doing a lot of business-y stuff to prepare.

Not really the kind of thing he ever expected himself to be doing, much less kind of enjoying, but there was something kind of satisfying about it. Though he was mostly relieved when he got to the end of the list and could celebrate with a workout of his own.

Atlas is open!

Caritas- NYE!

What day of the week was it? Who knew! Who cared! The important thing was it was the 31st, and everything else was officially next year's problem.

The bar was done up in a ridiculous amount of Christmas lights, which when paired with the usual metallic balloons and streamers, made for pretty good mood lighting. And sure, the mechanical bull still looked like sort of a lit up monstrosity but it added a certain something to the place.

SPECIALS
Confetti Champagne
Resolution Cocktail
Cranberry Gin Fizz
Frozen Espresso Martini
Apple Cider Spritz Mocktail
Peppermint Eggnog (alcoholic or non!)

Come one, come all, close out the year with significant others, friends, acquaintances, total strangers, and fun hats and glasses!

Luke's Diner; Tuesday [12/30].

Oh, if anyone thought that Ignis's tyrannical bout of end-of-year cleaning would be restricted to just the mansion, they clearly hadn't actually met him. He also had a game plan to do the same for the diner, not nearly as extensive due to also operating under business as usual, but he suspected it would be more than slow enough for a bit of attention thrown in where they might otherwise have been lax.

Any objections would be met with a prompto assignment to the grease traps.

Caritas- Tuesday

Today of course was the day for getting everything finalized for the party, including decorating. It was never anything too crazy (aside from the yearly fight over whether glitter would rain down at midnight), but Kitty had liked the idea of a lot of lights. Which she couldn't find.

At least until she went looking in the back room and found them all on the mechanical bull, lighting it up like some ungodly mechanized beacon, visible from space.

"Tino, I've got a project for you to undo!"

Nothing like trying to blind the patrons.

Fandom Radio, Tuesday, December 30th

What up island? It's me, ya girl Arden Finch, coming at you with my last broadcast of the year. Once again, it's pretty quiet on the island--or so I'm guessing. I'm in California and basically got mugged on my way to the store by a bunch of drunk rodents with radio equipment. Either they can't find our house or they don't wanna run into Galen and Al and have to explain how they got into it, and either way, I can't blame them.

Anyway, no School or Dorms, but we've got a little bit of life in Town. Professor Vess was haranguing clocks in the Infinite Consortium before calling Mr. Argentum at the Photo Hut to talk to him about teaching Little Miss how to ride a pony. That's some bougie-ass...right. I can't talk smack about being bougie anymore considering I'm on my way to Erewon. Moving on, Professor James and the nurses were discussing New Years Eve plans at the Clinic. And...that's it! That's all the notes! Now if you'll excuse me, I have fifty bucks from Castor with which I'm hoping to be able to afford an entire smoothie and a mason jar full of chocolate-covered pomegranate seeds. Wish me luck!

This is ya girl, Arden Finch, signing off with PEGGY's Villains Aren't Born (They're Made) and if you think it's at all related to my destination, you're goddess-damned right. Bye!

The Photo Hut; Monday [12/29].

As much as he really did love them, the holidays were pretty hectic and chaotic even before adding a newborn to the mix, so Prompto had been really looking forward to a chance to steal some peace and quiet down in the store that day. He might be just jinxing himself with that sigh of relief at the calm that awaited him when he opened up, but, hey, man, he was going to take it where he could get it!

He was also looking forward to taking the opportunity to start going through the...literal hundreds (if not thousands!!) of pictures he'd taken in the last month and a half or so.

Forget feeling cramped and running oit of space for the kids! If anything, thry mostly just needed more for all the photo albums.

Fandom Clinic, Monday 12/29

"I brought bagels today," Stark said. "To go with the coffee. In case anyone wanted a change from sweet things."

Not Stark, obviously. He'd been living off Christmas cookies and such for several days now. He probably ought to eat some real food at some point. Probably. Maybe a vegetable or two.

Stabby was unconcerned with vegetables, bagels, or cookies. Stabby was, apparently, trying on hats and ties for Wednesday night.

"He's thinking about going to the party," a nurse explained. "I think. He might have invited the lobsters? He's being a bit cagey about it all. You're going, right? To the bar?"

Stark shrugged.

"I haven't got anywhere else to go. So...I think so. At least for a bit."

The clinic was open, the crab was trying to look his best for the new year, and the alien was feeling a bit noncommittal about his holiday plans.

Fandom Radio- Monday, December 29?

Morning, everyone. I'm pretty sure it's my day? The squirrels showed up late and confused and I can't tell them otherwise so I'm going to read the notes and hope for the best.

We have Rey getting back to town and cleaning at Stark's, and Gregorith got back and was at the museum, where Watts came by to introduce himself.

And that's all my usual notes so I'm happy to report that today is Monday. Take that knowledge with you today.

Infinite Consortium, Monday

The worst thing about teaching was that it forced Liliana to cognizant of time. She preferred to live her life beholden to neither clock nor calendar, and classes meant that there was at least one time per week when she had to be aware of both. Which meant that what many people considered the disorienting, dreamy no-time between Christmas and New Year's Day was her preferred state of existence. She did what she wished when she wished, as was right and proper. Even being at the shop today had less to do with it being Monday and more that Ignis and her steward had decided to undertake some kind of vast, mansion-wide deep cleaning and Liliana had chosen to decamp elsewhere rather than be roped into assisting with that endeavor.

All of which to say that today's delivery of clocks (in fact, several different kinds of clocks) was absolutely insulting.

"You can make me put you in the window, but you can't make me mind you," she informed the different chronology keepers before flouncing back to her seat behind the counter.

Henry's Bohemia, Sunday Fandom Time

Days passed in Rattay with the sluggish determination of an ox. Henry’s next target was Timmy, the soft-hearted muscle of the group. Timmy had worked at a mill between Talmberg and Ledetchko, Reeky had told him.

So after a full day’s rest - he’d escaped that fight with Runt’s men with his life, but not entirely uninjured - he saddled Pebbles again and rode her along the long, winding paths in the quiet in-between.

The grass and the trees were starting to blend into the background again, he noticed, somewhere in the back of his mind. He wasn’t sure if he felt sad about it, but he tried to force himself to pay attention. There was no knowing if Fandom would take him again, and if so, for how long, after all.

The mill sat on a quiet hill... )

Stark Industries- Sunday

Rey loved Christmas, but being around when everyone was with their people and things were quiet got pretty lonely, and so she'd been at home. Learn some things, help some people, get into a fight that helped her feel better about her recent complaints about feeling rusty, it was a good time. She'd gotten back in this morning, so she figured she'd go in to work and be only a little bit late. It'd give her something to do since she was sure things were still on the slow side in town.

Except how there actually was nothing to do, which was pretty uncommon for after the holiday, sooo she was going to clean everything in sight. Yep. Totally worth coming in.
