Last week had been great, if... different with a two-year-old running around.

Okay, difficult. It has been really difficult and there was a reason Clint had had to get a babysitter to visit Kitty at work that time.

But the good news was that week was over, and things were much easier now, which was why Kitty carefully listened at the door to Lexi's bedroom to make sure she was asleep (she did not dare open the door) before coming back to the master bedroom and closing the door. "Okay, she's out."

Clint thought he was doing a very good job of waiting patiently, if "patiently" meant he was already half undressed under the covers when Kitty came in.

"Is it inhumane to figure out how to lock your kid's bedroom door from the outside? That seems like a real strategy for the rebellious teen years." Was he hoping for Dad of the Year? Nope, definitely not.

"No, but it might be a fire hazard," Kitty said, pulling off her shirt before getting into bed with him. "We probably need to worry more about the dogs scratching at the door."

"They were also asleep too when I came in, so I think we're good," Clint said, wasting no time in pulling Kitty closer. "It's nice to have some quiet time in our own home for once."

"And we only had to wait for the middle of the night to get it," Kitty said, leaning in to give him a kiss.

"Hey, for busy parents, that could be a lot worse," Clint insisted, giving her a kiss back. "I'm glad Lexi's determination to interfere didn't last. You'd think she wants to be an only child forever."
