It'd been a week since Kitty moved in and she was maybe still trying to put her best face forward so Clint wouldn't start thinking this was a mistake. At least not immediately. Which was why she even tried to wash any dishes that were used in the making of Super Bowl food right away, even if they were just used to make like, dip.

So that was all done when she brought some of the food out to the living room, saying, "So are we rooting for the game, too, or just the commercials?"

"I don't care about either of these teams, so I'm here for the commercials," Clint said, opening a bag of chips. "And the food, obviously."

"Same here," she said, setting things down before taking a seat next to him. "I don't even have anyone where I can root for a team on their behalf this year. Good thing football plays only last twenty seconds before another four minutes of commercials."

"Oh, and I promised Lucky and Rook that we'd turn over to the Puppy Bowl during halftime," Clint said, because blaming things on your dogs was as American as watching the Super Bowl.

Kitty looked over at him, grinning. "You did that, huh? Yo promised them that?"

The best part was she could picture it.

"Yup. It's very important to them," Clint said innocently. "I figured you wouldn't mind."

"I am all for this plan," she said. "It'll actually be a bonus if they bark back at the dogs on TV."

[so_hawkward]

"I might need to figure out how to record video on my phone if that happens," Clint said, looking at the assortment of food on the table. "So, are you spoiling me or did you want all of this dip too?"

"A little of column A, a little of column B, and a little of column This Is What Happens When I Prep For My Class," Kitty said. "Though spoiling you totally sounds better."

"Mmm, I'm going to have to make sure I don't distract you from class prep," Clint said, shifting closer to Kitty on the couch. "Do you need me to clean anything up? Since you did the cooking?"

"I did the big stuff as I went," she admitted. Yes she was showing off and trying to spoil him. "But I wouldn't mind help with the rest."

"Okay. You didn't need to make stuff, for the record. I could have just bought pre-made stuff and... well, I guess most of this stuff doesn't need to be warm," Clint said. "But then you wouldn't have anything to clean."

"It's not a big deal," Kitty assured him. "It's not much work. Besides, it's still kind of novel that I don't suck at this stuff so I like showing off."

"It's novel that you don't suck at what stuff? Being a roommate?" Clint asked.

[throughaphase]

"Making stuff," she said, raising an eyebrow. "Roommate?"

[so_hawkward]

"I didn't mean that's all you are or anything," Clint said quickly. "I just meant the cleaning part is kind of roommate-like. I've been trying to make less of a mess for you."

"I don't think I like the R-word," she decided. "But you don't have to make less of a mess for me or anything. I didn't think anything was a mess before last week, I'm not gonna start now."

[so_hawkward]

"Are you sure? I've been trying not to use up too many things," Clint said. "I won't use the R-word again, I promise."

[throughaphase]

"I mean, you don't have to not use things up. We both live here, so just... you know, do things like you normally do." Even though she wasn't yet.

[so_hawkward]

"'Like I normally do' means not using much of anything so I don't have to clean it," Clint said. "I probably should have warned you about that before I moved you in, huh?"

"I knew about the drinking out of the coffee pot thing, it's not exactly a shock that it applies to everything else," she pointed out.

[so_hawkward]

"It's easier that way! And I always share carefully so my coffee-pot-drinking germs don't get into your coffee," Clint said, in his defense.

[throughaphase]

"You're adorable. I kiss you, you know," Kitty laughed. "I already get your germs."

[so_hawkward]

"Yeah, but food and drink germs are different. Maybe," Clint said.

[throughaphase]

"Nope. Same germs. So says me," Kitty decided. She was pretty sure that was true, anyway? "So that's something you don't have to worry about, especially since I'm pretty sure I've shared food with you before anyway."
